A new Marvel TV show just got a surprise announcement that nobody saw coming. Everyone assumed that Disney had gotten all the announcements in the world out during their enormous Disney Investor Day, but it looks like they had one more show up their sleeve. And you will be able to watch it very soon.

The new Marvel TV show is called Marvel Studios: Legends and will essentially act as a way to recap the stories of certain Marvel Cinematic Universe characters in the lead-up to one of their new projects. The first two episodes will focus on Wanda Maximoff and Vision respectively so that viewers will be able to feel refreshed once WandaVision lands on Disney+ on January 15. Marvel Studios: Legends will drop on Disney+ one week earlier on January 8.

The fact that we are going to need a Marvel TV show to recap the ever-growing events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe should illuminate just how sprawling the entire canon of these movies and shows already is, and it is about to get even larger and more vast. Marvel Studios: Legends will basically be a clip show that will allow viewers to play a quick game of catch-up before the next big Marvel Cinematic Universe project is released. You can expect to see Marvel Studios: Legends episodes that will get fans caught up on characters integral to shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and the many other Disney+ Marvel shows on the way.

It will be interesting to see if this new Marvel TV show ends up becoming a necessary tool for some of the upcoming Marvel projects. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is only going to get more unwieldy as more and more movies and series get announced. Not to mention that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to dive headfirst into the multiverse and that will only add more confusion to a lot of what is going on in these movies and shows. Marvel Studios: Legends could prove to be an invaluable resource as the Marvel Cinematic Universe branches even further out into its untapped regions.

There are certainly going to be a plethora of Marvel TV shows hitting Disney+ over the next decade. There are at least twelve series confirmed for Disney+ over the next few years. That is going to require a lot of Marvel Cinematic Universe knowledge to keep straight. Not to mention the feature films that will still be coming out over the years. Marvel Studios: Legends might be the best way for many casual viewers and even lapsed fans to get a good boost of info on a particular show or character they are interested in.

We will be able to see exactly what this new Marvel TV show has in store for us when Marvel Studios: Legends releases on Disney+ next month. Will viewers engage with what will essentially be a clip show? Or will they be somewhat disinterested in it and jump right into the shows that they are curious about? 2021 is going to be a landmark year for Marvel and this is yet another step towards them cementing themselves as a pop culture necessity.
