We won’t be seeing Marvel star Tatiana Maslany’s next project Invitation to a Bonfire anytime soon, as AMC has decided to put the kibosh on production. According to Deadline, the decision was made as part of AMC Networks’ effort to take around $400M of content write-downs. However, showrunner Rachel Caris Love is hoping that the series will find a new home and told Deadline that those conversations are already in the works.

Apparently, four out of the six episodes of Invitation to a Bonfire were completed, with a cast that includes Marvel star Tatiana Maslany, Ngozi Anyanwu, Freya Mavor, and Pilou Asbæ. The series was an adaptation of the Adrienne Celt novel, which is a thriller that follows a young Russian immigrant and groundskeeper named Zoya at an all-girls boarding school in the 1930s. She finds herself embroiled in a love triangle between the newest faculty member at the school and his wife.

Hopefully, Invitation to a Bonfire is able to find a home elsewhere, as the premise certainly seems interesting and the cast is stacked. Marvel snapped up Tatiana Maslany for its show She-Hulk, which gave us our first proper half-hour comedy in the MCU. As Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Maslany was perfect as the fourth-wall-breaking lawyer who also happened to be a Hulk.

Even if we don’t get to see Invitation to a Bonfire on a different network, Marvel likely has big plans for Tatiana Maslany in the future, so we should be seeing plenty more work from her on the superhero side of things. Marvel likes to stay secretive and keep us guessing as to when we can expect to see a character again, so there’s no telling when we’ll get to see She-Hulk pop up in the MCU next. Though, with her powers, it seems like a safe bet that we’ll get to see her in an Avengers movie at the very least.

Marvel also has the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series on the way for Disney+, which could very well have a cameo or even a full-on recurring role for Tatiana Maslany. Much to everyone’s delight, She-Hulk included several appearances from Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock as both a lawyer and his crimefighting alter-ego. Murdock and Walters even ended up striking up a romance by the end of the series, so that certainly opens up the door for She-Hulk to cross paths with Daredevil in his own series.

Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again is also set to have a whopping eighteen episodes in its first season, so you’d have to imagine there would be room for Tatiana Maslany to make an appearance somewhere in there. Especially if the rumors about the show focusing more on Murdock’s life as a lawyer are true. Since both Jennifer Walters and Matt Murdock are lawyers, it seems like there are plenty of story opportunities for them to face off or even work together in the courtroom.

Marvel hasn’t mentioned any official plans for She-Hulk season 2 and Invitation to a Bonfire was the only future project Tatiana Maslany has on her docket, so it’s unclear when we’ll be seeing the Emmy-award-winning actress on screen again. You’d have to think that if Invitation to a Bonfire had four episodes in the can that another streaming company or TV network would be willing to foot the bill to make the remaining two episodes. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
