Upcoming Avengers, Captain America Movie Titles Leaked?

It seems some legal paperwork may have just leaked the titles of some of Marvel's biggest upcoming projects.

Marvel Studios has never been more paranoid about details of their upcoming projects, which we blame on Mark Ruffalo (and to a lesser extent, Tom Holland). Under the watchful, Sauron-like eye of President Kevin Feige, every secret of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is tightly controlled and kept from the public until they are ready to be revealed. Except that we live in a very suspicious world, and you can find out pretty much anything if you figure out the right place to look. In this particular case, it seems that some legal maneuvers may have accidentally leaked the titles to Marvel projects like new Avengers films and the upcoming Captain America 4

According to the inquiring minds at Culture Crave, Marvel Studios has trademarked a number of titles relating to their upcoming projects. The specific titles include Avengers: Secret Wars, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Captain America: New World Order, Multiverse Saga, and Thunderbolts. The trail is a little convoluted, and as such, must be taken with a few grains of salt. A post was made on Reddit that indicated these titles had been registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, with a screenshot indicating filing. In particular, it has been confirmed that Marvel Studios has a Thunderbolts project in development; given that particular trademark likely has some veracity to it, it lends a bit more strength to the others.

If you break down the list, there seems to be a lot for Marvel fans to go on. It has been hotly rumored that the studio is considering (or may already be covertly developing) a storyline based on Secret Wars, the influential 1984 Marvel Comics crossover event. While the Russo Brothers have publicly said they are not involved with a MCU Secret Wars movie, that does not mean that somebody else might not be. The Kang Dynasty clearly refers to perennial Marvel Comics villain Kang the Conqueror, who has been confirmed to debut in the MCU in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and will be portrayed by Jonathan Majors. A version of the character already appeared in the Disney+ series Loki (referred to as “The One Who Remains”); while a dynasty traditionally refers to a succession of descendants, could it also refer to a series of multiversal variants replacing each other?

Captain America: New World Order shares its title with the debut episode of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it also refers to a villainous organization founded by Captain America’s nemesis the Red Skull that appeared in Marvel Comics in the 1990s. It is also a common term used for a number of various global conspiracy theories in the real world. The previous Captain America movies increasingly took their cues and tone from political thrillers, so using the name of a real-world conspiracy theory would be right in line with that. Finally, Multiverse Saga pretty much already describes what Marvel appears to be setting up with the recent Spider-Man and Doctor Strange movies, so no surprise there. We shall just have to wait and see if any or some or all of these names turn out to be the truth.
