It’s always exciting to see what movies Netflix will add to its offerings. You get to check out some movies you may have missed, some fan favorites, and even some movies that aren’t that great. Recently, they added the Mark Wahlberg-starring hit Four Brothers, which you can go stream right now if you wanted to.

Though Four Brothers doesn’t do anything revolutionary, it’s a fairly enjoyable action flick that features great rapport between the titular four brothers and the actors who play them. Four Brothers tell the story of (let’s say it again) four brothers who go after the killer of their adoptive mother. Their mother (Fionnula Flanagan) dies in a hold-up gone wrong, but the brothers suspect there are ulterior motives at play and they go after a dangerous criminal kingpin played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. In addition to Mark Wahlberg, the brothers are played by Garrett Hedlund, Tyrese Gibson, and Andre Benjamin aka Andre 3000. The film also stars Terrence Howard, Josh Charles, Sofia Vergara, and Taraji P. Henson.

Garett Hedlund plays a musician who is on the rise, Tyrese Gibson plays a former Marine, Mark Wahlberg is a hockey player, and Andre 3000 is a husband and father who has settled down. The best thing about this movie is undoubtedly the chemistry between these four, with the rest of the film being fairly by-the-numbers. Not that the formula makes the film bad, as plenty of people enjoyed the movie. Just look at the 80% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’re looking at it through a critical lens, you might agree more with the 52% critic score, but that’s a call you can definitely make for yourself after you check out the movie.

Four Brothers is a breezy 1 hour and 48-minute runtime, so it definitely won’t take too much time out of your evening or your lazy Sunday afternoon. In 2020, Tyrese Gibson even made an Instagram post about a potential sequel (Mark Wahlberg team up again?), so maybe it’s a good time to catch up in case that comes to fruition!

Four Brothers did fairly well at the box office pulling in just over $92.3 million worldwide against a budget of $45 million. Undoubtedly, Mark Wahlberg and the rest of the star-studded cast helped to bring in the audience. Though it’s not necessarily a box office smash, doubling the budget is never a bad thing.

Four Brothers came out in 2005, and it was smack dab in the middle of a hot streak from Mark Wahlberg. He had just been in The Italian Job a couple of years earlier and then one year after Four Brothers he starred in arguably his best movie with The Departed. And if you want to catch up with his more recent projects, he just had a huge role in the film adaption of the video game Uncharted. Tom Holland played treasure hunter Nathan Drake and Wahlberg played his friend and mentor Victor Sullivan. Though fans of the game felt like the roles were fairly miscast, the movie still ended up being a hit with audiences, scoring a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. From the critic’s perspective, it faced a similar fate to Four Brothers, only managing to get a 40%. Clearly, the critics are a little harsh with Marky Mark while the audiences love him.

Mark Wahlberg’s next project is releasing very soon. It’s called Father Stu and is set to come to theaters on April 15. Wahlberg plays Stuart Long, a boxer who becomes a priest and becomes an inspiration to many. The film was directed and written by Rosalind Ross. In addition to Wahlberg, the film also stars Mel Gibson, Jacki Weaver, Faith Jefferies, Annet Mahendru, Teresa Ruiz, and more. He also has a comedy that is supposed to come out in 2022 called Me Time. Me Time is about a Dad who reconnects with an old friend for a crazy weekend while his wife and kids are away. Me Time is directed and written by John Hamburg. It co-stars Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Jimmy O. Yang, Tahj Mowry, and more.

While you wait for new projects from Mark Wahlberg, you can check out Four Brothers on Netflix USA now. It first hit the platform on April 1, so you probably have a decent amount of time before it leaves the platform again.
