As Hollywood’s biggest studios present footage of their upcoming releases to exhibitors at Cinema Con in Las Vegas, Netflix has revealed its own list of original movies. Set to debut this year, these star-studded movies include Jamie Foxx’s vampire thriller Day Shift, the Dakota Johnson starrer Persuasion, and the comedy Me Time starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg.

In the first-look photo of Me Time revealed by Netflix, Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart are seen carrying a large sea turtle across a street. The duo, dressed in matching orange and blue tracksuits, look rather wary and seem to be in a hurry. If the image is anything to go by, the movie is sure to be filled with a lot of hilarious shenanigans, which is something both actors excel at given their extensive comedic catalogs. Written and directed by John Hamburg, the story follows a stay-at-home dad (Kevin Hart) who finds himself with some much-needed “me time” for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away. Looking for an interesting way to fill his time, the dad reconnects with his long-time best friend (Mark Whalberg) for a wild weekend. But their antics almost ruin his entire life.

Netflix is set to release the Mark Wahlberg starrer on August 26th. According to Deadline, the film is produced by John Hamburg (who also worked on Night School) through his Particular Pictures. Kevin Hart and Bryan Smiley are also producing for HartBeat Productions. Lauren Hennessey, Joe Gatta, Patricia Braga, and Mark Moran serve as executive producers on the highly anticipated comedy.

Joining Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg in Me Time are Regina Hall, Jimmy O. Yang, and Luis Gerardo Méndez. Netflix is the exclusive home for four feature films starring and produced by Hart, whose projects have collectively earned more than $4 billion at the global box office. Meanwhile, the Uncharted star Wahlberg continues to expand his relationship with the streamer that began with the action-comedy Spenser Confidential in 2020. The film garnered 85 million views over its first four weeks on the platform.

Although retirement has been on his mind lately, Mark Wahlberg still has a few projects in the works. His most recent big-screen success has been the biopic, Father Stu. Based on the true-life story of a boxer, the story follows Stuart Long who becomes a Catholic priest after being diagnosed with a serious illness. Written and directed by Rosalind Ross, the movie also features performances by Jacki Weaver, Mel Gibson, Teresa Ruiz as Carmen, Niko Nicotera, Chiquita Fuller, and Cody Fern.

Mark Wahlberg will also star as Mikael Lindnord alongside Simu Liu as Liam in the upcoming adventure film, Arthur the King. The movie is based on the 2017 real-life story of Mikael Lindnord called Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed The Jungle To Find A Home. Production began in the Dominican Republic and was completed in January. The project is currently in post-production. The cast also includes Ali Suliman, Rob Collins, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Michael Landes. No release date is available at this time.
