The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond Phase 4 remains a mystery. But a lot of fans are hoping that Mark Ruffalo will get a solo movie somewhere in the mix. While nothing has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, especially since the production rights for stand-alone Hulk movies still belong to Universal Pictures, the superhero will be making an appearance in She-Hulk.

Canadian actress, Tatiana Maslany stars in the show as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk. The series is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, with Jessica Gao serving as head writer and showrunner. Sharing continuity with the films of the franchise, She-Hulk will feature guest appearances from various Marvel characters – including Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk . Now a new rumor says he’ll be leaving the planet at the end of the show.

The news comes by way of renowned scooper MyTimeToShineHello and lines up with a Marvel Studios Spoilers Subreddit leak which did the rounds on social media last year. But why would the green giant leave Earth? It’s previously been reported that She-Hulk is going to introduce Skaar, the son Hulk conceived with Caiera in the Planet Hulk storyline. This could definitely be a reason for Mark Ruffalo’s Banner to leave Earth and return to the planet once ruled by The Grandmaster. Alternatively, Skaar could find his way to Earth in She-Hulk, in a quest to seek his father’s help with an off-planet crisis. This could tie into reports about plans for a World War Hulk movie. Note that this is just speculation. All we can report is that rumors are flying about what will happen for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk.

The last time we saw Mark Ruffalo’s green alter-ego, he had assumed the form of Professor Hulk who was created to heal Banner’s fractured psyche. But during the mid-credits scene in Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings it was Bruce Banner who was seen analyzing the make-up of the rings via hologram video call – with his arm in a sling. This left fans wondering if using the Infinity Gauntlet had weakened the monster and returned Banner to his human form permanently. While we wait for answers, footage from She-Hulk has seemingly confirmed that he will be back as Hulk in the Disney+ series.

She-Hulk has been a fan favorite since making her first appearance in the 1980’s The Savage She-Hulk #1. The last major character to be co-created by Stan Lee, She-Hulk follows the story of lawyer, Jennifer Susan Walters who also happens to be Bruce Banner’s cousin. After an injury, Walters receives an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, and with it, a milder version of his Hulk condition. This means that although Walters becomes a large, powerful green-hued version of herself, she still largely retains her personality, intelligence, and emotional control – unlike Mark Ruffalo’s Banner. But she is still susceptible to outbursts of temper and becomes much stronger if enraged. In later issues of the comics, her transformation is permanent. She-Hulk is scheduled for release later this year and will consist of ten episodes.
