Wolf of Wall Street is a famously over-the-top movie, featuring all the nudity, drugs, and sex you’d expect in the life of a sleazy coked-up Wall Street pump-and-dumper. With that much craziness going on on set, there was plenty of craziness going on behind the scenes. Daily Express reports one particular episode that happened during a sex scene between Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio: She somehow ended up with DiCaprio’s e-cigarette in her butt.

According to Margot Robbie, “I was looking around with him – both still sitting in this bed – and then I went, ‘Oh, um, it’s literally, like, in my butt crack…I’m sitting on it…I am so sorry.'” While the moment might have been embarrassing for Robbie, we bet they both had a good laugh about the entire ordeal.

DiCaprio stuck his e-cigarette under a pillow right before filming the scene. It turns out that passionate on-screen lovemaking can jostle the bed around a bit, however, and DiCaprio couldn’t find the e-cig when looking for a post-scene nicotine hit. As DiCaprio searched the bed in frustration, Robbie made a sheepish confession: the e-cigarette was nestled between her buttcheeks.

It’s unclear what DiCaprio expected to happen when he placed his vape on a bouncy setpiece during such an… active scene. Whatever the case, he certainly didn’t expect to have to ponder whether to put his mouth on something that had spent any amount of time between Margot Robbie’s buttocks.

Margot Robbie’s character, Naomi Lapaglia, has a steamy presence onscreen, showing up completely nude the first time we see her. DiCaprio’s character, Jordan Belfort, ends up being unable (and also unwilling) to resist Naomi, and ends up having an affair with her. In-film, the passionate affair leads to Belfort getting divorced from his wife and marrying Naomi, though Robbie says that the actual process of filming the affair was far from romantic.

For those wondering whether DiCaprio was desperate enough for a hit to take a drag on the less-than-sanitary cigarette, Margot Robbie, unfortunately, failed to say. However, she said that DiCaprio probably threw the e-cigarette away after the scene, so it’s unlikely.

Thankfully for Margot Robbie, the cig-tainting incident doesn’t seem to have harmed her career. She’s appeared in at least two films every year since 2015, including starring as infamous figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, and as Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad, 2020’s Birds of Prey, and 2021’s The Suicide Squad. This year, she’s scheduled to star in the Wes Anderson romantic comedy-drama and will also play Barbie in the live-action Barbie film Barbie.

In fact, Wolf of Wall Street may have given Margot Robbie a little bit too much success. She famously had a hard time dealing with being thrust into the spotlight after the film became a break-out hit and even considered quitting her acting career. She eventually decided that the only thing to do was move forward, and continued accepting roles until she got where she is today.

Much of Naomi’s memorability comes from Margot Robbie’s own ideas. She reportedly is the one who decided to film her introductory scene naked. She also contributed to a brainstorming session where they decided how to stage the divorce scene — eventually deciding on having Belfort try to kidnap the couple’s daughter before crashing his car in a drug-filled rampage.
