Margot Robbie’s Latest Movie Shut Down By The Police

The new Margot Robbie movie Amsterdam ran overtime and got shut down by Pasadena police.

Margot Robbie appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to bring Jimmy Fallon fairy bread, sing Happy Birthday to the host with the audience, and talk about how her movie Amsterdam was shut down by the police. As Robbie tells it, on the last day of shooting for the film, the time had run out on their filming permit and Pasadena police ended up coming on the set to get them to shut it down. The funniest part was when Robbie noticed that the policewoman was trying to think of the word “wrap” to get people to pack it up, and that’s exactly what happened when she finally got the word to come to her.

Since film sets are probably a normal part of everyday life in Los Angeles, it’s no surprise that the police showed up to shut things down after the permit was up. It turns out that even if you have Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, and David O. Russell trying to work on a movie like Amsterdam, you’re not free from the rules of filming permits. Fortunately, it seems like they got what they needed because the release for Amsterdam is right around the corner.

While Margot Robbie has had a pretty quiet 2022 with no movies released, she’s about to end the year with a bang; first up is the aforementioned Amsterdam written and directed by David O. Russell. The film is set in the 1930s and follows three friends played by Robbie, Christian Bale, and John David Washington who witness a murder and become suspects themselves.

Amsterdam is set to be a star-studded affair. Along with the main trio, the film also stars Chris Rock, Robert De Niro, Rami Malek, Anya Taylor-Joy, Michael Shannon, Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Zoe Saldana, and Taylor Swift. Amsterdam is set to hit theaters on October 7.

There’s also a chance that Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City will come out before the end of the year. The film is about an astronomy convention that takes place in a desert town in the 1950s. Along with Margot Robbie, the film’s cast is just as stacked as Amsterdam‘s (if not more so) with Tom Hanks, Steve Carrell, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Maya Hawke, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Rupert Friend, Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, and more.

If two movies with jaw-dropping cast lists weren’t enough, Margot Robbie is kicking off 2023 with Damien Chazelle’s Babylon which is set to come out on January 6. The film follows the depraved and decadent days of early Hollywood and the characters that rose and fell during that time. Along with Robbie, the film stars Brad Pitt, Jean Smart, Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire, Samara Weaving, Eric Roberts, Phoebe Tonkin, Flea, Katherine Waterston, Max Minghella, and more.

Finally, we can look forward to one of Robbie’s most hyped films with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie coming on July 21, 2023. The film stars Robbie in the titular role with Ryan Gosling as Ken. In the meantime, hopefully, Margot Robbie will be able to film all of her future projects without the police shutting them down, unlike Amsterdam.
