Johnny Depp is not the only star in his family, as his daughter Lily-Rose Depp has steadily been carving out a great place in Hollywood for herself. The young actress was recently in oddball films like Tusk and Yoga Hosers, both of which were directed by Kevin Smith. However, her acting career expanded into many different films like The King and Silent Night. Now, the woman is set to star alongside one of the biggest singers in the world for a series on HBO. That series is called The Idol, and it is being produced by the creator of Euphoria, Sam Levinson. You can see the highly excitable and drug-filled trailer below:

Although the above trailer is only a teaser, we are given quite a lot to think about. The backdrop of the entire series seems to be luxurious parties that are filled with cocaine, music, and what sounds like an orgy. At least, that is what the woman speaking in the trailer is asking for, “more orgy.” The beginning text also states this new series is from the “twisted minds” of Sam Levinson and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye. For those who are not familiar, The Weeknd happens to be one of the biggest pop stars in the world currently. He rose to superstardom in the last five years and has now branched out into acting. He is joined by rising star, Lily-Rose Depp.

The Idol is set to follow the music scene, as Abel Tesfaye is taking on the role of self-help guru and cult leader who establishes a wild relationship with an and upcoming pop singer (Depp). Starring alongside Abel Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp are series regulars Troye Sivan, Suzanna Son, and Steve Zissis. Also appearing in the series are Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga, and Anne Heche in recurring roles. The series has been created by Tesfaye, Levinson, and Reza Fahim.

The Idol had run into plenty of trouble when production had initially begun. The director of the series, Amy Seimetz, exited after a few episodes had already been filmed. Based on that, reports indicated that reshoots were going to happen, as a new creative direction would be implemented for the entire series. Things have clearly been going more in the positive direction, as the first teaser trailer has dropped. Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd both look quite fantastic in the trailer. The Weeknd did have a small role in the A24 film, Uncut Gems, which he was fantastic in. That could be why the musician is moving over into acting. He does have the knack for it.

Unfortunately, The Idol is only labeled as “coming soon.” We have not been given a release date for this upcoming series. The previously mentioned reshoots might be the cause of the delay in the series premiering, but we are more than willing to be patient to see where this show goes. HBO is certainly known for its excellent programming. Sam Levinson did create Euphoria, and that series has exploded with popularity. It even managed to unseat Game of Thrones as the most watched series on the network. We can’t wait to see what is in store for The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.
