It has been nearly four years since Keanu Reeves stepped out as a couple for the first time publicly with Alexandra Grant. Although the pair had known each other professionally for years, it took some time before they became romantically involved, and then just a little more time for the couple to decide to go public with their relationship. So, what do we know about Grant and just how serious is she with The Matrix and John Wick star.? Is she actually Keanu Reeves’ wife?
Alexandra Grant Is 50 Years Old And Moved Quite A Bit As A Child
Alexandra Grant was born in Ohio on April 4, 1973. When Grant was young, her parents divorced and she spent most of her time with her mother, an American political science professor, a foreign-service diplomat, and an educational administrator who spent time in Africa and the Middle East. After her parents divorced, Grant went with her mother to Mexico City, where her mother was working.
Grant’s early education was at a British school in Mexico City. She wasn’t there long and at age 11, Grant was at the Thomas Jefferson School, a boarding school, in St. Louis, Missouri. Again, she didn’t remain in St. Louis long, traveling with her mother to Paris, France, where she attended the International School of Paris.
Whether it was a good thing or not to constantly bounce not only from one school to another, but one country to another, what it did do was give Grant experiences not many young people get. Because of these and all the moving to different countries, Grant became multi-lingual, now with the ability to speak English, French, and Spanish.
By the time Grant was a high school senior, she was attending the exclusive private boarding school, Phillips Exeter Academy, in Exeter, New Hampshire, where she graduated. She then went to Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1995 with a BA in history and studio art.
After that, she attended the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, California, where she graduated with an MFA in painting and drawing.
Alexandra Grant And Keanu Reeves Connected Over Art
When Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant first met, it was strictly business. But even before that, Grant was establishing herself as a painter with some serious talent. She had her first solo art exhibition in 2007, then joined a Tel Aviv multi-artist show. Since that time, she has been a part of countless exhibitions.
Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant first met in 2009 at a dinner party, realizing fairly quickly they had the same passion for art. They turned this passion into their first collaboration in 2011, Ode to Happiness. The book was published by Gerhard Steidl and included Grant’s art (her first artist book) and Reeves’ writing.
They would also team up one more time in 2016 for a similar project. This one was called Shadows and followed the same narrative path as their first – Grant supplied the art while Reeves supplied the text. The love they both shared for art and publishing led the two to their next adventure.
In 2017, Reeves and Grant co-founded X Artists’ Books. According to the website, they are a publishing house that zeroes in on “thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres. Our books are works of art; portals to imagined worlds; treasured companions; the fabric of a community.”
They Have Been Seen Out In Public
It is unknown exactly when Reeves and Grant took their professional life to the next level and became romantically involved. Their public debut came in 2019 when they attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala presented by Gucci in Los Angeles. Tongues were wagging after their appearance though it wasn’t a surprise to actress Jennifer Tilly, who is a good friend of Grant’s.
Tilly explained that while it was news to the general public, she had known for some time about Reeves and Grant becoming a couple. “I remember a couple of years ago, about a year and a half ago, [Grant] said, ‘Keanu Reeves is my boyfriend,’ and I’m like, ‘Wait. What? What? What?’”
After their first appearance on the red carpet, Grant spoke about the immediate attention she garnered. “I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that’s fascinating,” she told Vogue at the time. “But the question I’ve been asking in all of this is: ‘What is the opportunity for good?’”
Keanu Reeves Early Love Life
Although Keanu Reeves has been linked to numerous gals in the past, he is still notoriously private about his personal life.
As Reeves’ career started to take off, so did his romantic life. He was first linked to actress Jill Schoelen back in 1986 when they met filming Babes in Toyland. The pair dated for almost three years before calling it quits in 1989. Reeves then moved on to the actress, now director, Sofia Coppola, daughter of the legendary director, Francis Ford Coppola. The two met while Reeves was filming Bram Stoker’s Dracula, a film that Francis Ford Coppola directed.
While Reeves never officially dated his Dracula co-star, Winona Ryder, they may actually be married. It happened while filming Dracula and the two were in a wedding scene. “In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest,” Ryder explained. “We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
Keanu Reeves Had Tragedy With Jennifer Syme
Back in 1998, Keanu Reeves began dating Jennifer Syme. The two met at a party that was being thrown for Reeves’ rock band, Dogstar. At the time, Syme was working as a personal assistant to director David Lynch.
The pair began dating and soon Syme was pregnant with their child. Sadly, on Christmas Eve 1999, Syme was eight months pregnant when she gave birth to their child, a daughter, who was stillborn. The death of their baby was rough on the couple, causing them to split up shortly after. They eventually reconciled and began dating again, but the tragedy was not to end there.
Syme was at a bash at singer Marilyn Manson’s home on April 1, 2001. Reports are that Syme consumed “various quantities of an illegal controlled substance” that was said to have been given to her by Manson. Eventually, Syme was taken to her home by one of the party attendees, but when she got home, she jumped into her Jeep Cherokee with the intent of going back to Manson’s party.
On her way, and heavily impaired, Syme crashed into three parked cars on Cahuenga Boulevard in Hollywood. She was not wearing her seatbelt when she hit and was thrown from her vehicle, where she died on the scene. Upon the investigation, the police found two rolled-up dollar bills, both of which contained a white powdery substance. They also found two bottles of prescription drugs: the anticonvulsant clonazepam and the muscle relaxant cyclobenzaprine.
Keanu Reeves Does Not Have A Wife, But Only Technically
As time has gone on, Reeves and Grant seem to be more and more comfortable out in public and sharing those wonderful PDAs. The most recent outing for them occurred at the 2023 Museum of Contemporary Art Gala at the Geffen Contemporary in Los Angeles, California. The couple has been photographed in past events holding hands, but on this occasion, they shared a nice (quick!) kiss on the red carpet.
All signs are a go for the John Wick star and his artist girlfriend. Where this means wedding bells are in their future remains to be seen. Until then, if it were to ever happen, the couple looks to be enjoying themselves and life, as their personal and professional relationships continue full steam ahead.
