Keanu Reeves is returning as John Wick very soon, but we may see him again before the next sequel. MovieWeb reported on the film’s premiere at SXSW, where Keanu Reeves revealed that he would be making a cameo in the Ana de Armas Ballerina spin-off. When asked about the film, Reeves said, “I have a cameo in Ballerina, that’s true.”

You don’t get confirmation much clearer than that. While we don’t know how big Keanu Reeves’ cameo will be in Ballerina, we at least know that he’ll be getting some screen time. Having John Wick show up will explicitly tie the film to the Wick universe and be a great way to introduce the new potential spin-off franchise.

Keanu Reeves may have a small role in Ballerina, but it will be Ana de Armas’ turn to be in the assassin spotlight. She’s onboard to play the assassin who seeks revenge against those that killed her family. Len Wiseman will be in the director chair, with John Wick Chapter: 3Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4 scribe Shay Hatten on board to write the screenplay.

Keanu Reeves won’t be the only actor linking Ballerina to the greater John Wick universe, as Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Anjelica Huston will also be reprising their roles from the flagship film franchise. Along with Ana de Armas, newcomers to the cast list include Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. If the spin-off ends up being as successful as the mainline films, it wouldn’t be surprising to see more spin-offs branch off in the future.

Before we see Keanu Reeves make his cameo in Ballerina, we’ll have the pleasure of seeing him return as Wick in John Wick: Chapter 4 on March 24. John Wick: Chapter 4 is directed by Chad Stahleski and written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Along with Reeves, the film will star Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, and Ian McShane.

John Wick: Chapter 4 will be a globetrotting adventure that sees Wick recruiting friends and foes to take on The High Table. Fans of the Wick franchise should savor the new film, as recent reports suggest that Chapter 5 is pretty far off. It’s good that Keanu Reeves is showing up as John Wick in Ballerina; otherwise, we may have to wait years after the next film to see him again.

However, fans should be pretty pleased with the John Wick franchise, considering we’re getting at least two new projects (maybe even three) this year. We’ll get to see Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, there’s a possibility that we could see Ballerina before the year is over, and we’re getting the prequel series The Continental on Peacock this year. The prequel series will follow younger versions of Ian McShane’s Winston Scott (played by Colin Woodell) and Lance Reddick’s Charon (Ayomide Adegun) as they establish the assassin hotel.

The Continental will also star Peter Greene, Mel Gibson, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, and Nhung Kate. Be on the lookout for that series later this year. In the meantime, stay tuned for more news on Keanu Reeves, Ballerina, and other John Wick-related projects.
