One of the biggest requests amongst all fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and superheroes worldwide is to finally have Keanu Reeves play a part in the grand scheme of things. Reeves has taken on Neo, John Wick, and plenty of other roles that signify his needing to be a part of Marvel lore. Now he is trending for a role to which he has been attached plenty of times, Ghost Rider.
Keanu Reeves is one of the most beloved actors in all of Hollywood and has done nothing but be a great guy in the eyes of everyone who is a fan. His pure generosity has been plastered on social media for years. Simply put: he can do no wrong. A recent interview with Esquire brought forth the question on everyone’s mind, “when will the MCU add Keanu Reeves?” His answer was simply, “it would be an honor.” Plenty of people have pegged the action star to be the next Wolverine, but Twitter exploded with the possibility of Reeves playing Ghost Rider.
No one has touched Ghost Rider on the big screen since 2012 when the marginally accepted Johnny Blaze was portrayed by Nicolas Cage. Both Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance were not well received by a lot of people, as fans feel as though the films came out far too soon. The current MCU is full of, “really amazing directors, and visionaries.” According to Keanu Reeves. His statement is correct in that the MCU has since morphed into a global and successful film franchise that has spanned decades and tons of movies. Adding Reeves would just make sense.
Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider would be the perfect role for Keanu Reeves, as the character is one of pure vengeance and can be deeply brooding at times. Ghost Rider is one of the more popular anti-heroes in all of the comics. Reeves is no stranger to playing an anti-hero as the John Wick series has swept through Hollywood and created a massive fan base in its three films. John Wick 4 is set to release in 2022, and plenty of people cannot wait to see what happens next.
Keanu Reeves is also said to be a massive motorcycle enthusiast, so naturally, being Johnny Blaze would be a no-brainer. A brand new iteration of Ghost Rider could usher in a new take on a sorely needed rebranding of one of the coolest Marvel characters ever created. If Blade gets a reboot, so should Ghost Rider.
Although the MCU has taken a turn to the younger generation, there are a plethora of heroes and anti-heroes that have not gotten their fair share of screen time. Ghost Rider was released a year before Iron Man before the MCU became the massive success that it is. Keanu Reeves would be the perfect fit to help usher in a new phase of heroes that could join other awaiting storylines. Ghost Rider is part of the Fantastic Four, another group that is needing a reboot. Call Reeves immediately.
