Keanu Reeves remains one of Hollywood’s most marketable stars and he continues to maintain a level of box office superstardom the likes of which we’ve rarely seen. It is really a testament to not only his talent but also his ability to work with others and bring a certain stoicism and confidence to roles that few can do on screen. So it isn’t a surprise that once he’s in an established franchise, the studio would want to keep it going for as long as possible. That’s the case with the John Wick movies. Though we haven’t even gotten the fourth movie yet, there’s already firm word that more are on their way. We Got This Covered is reporting that John Wick 4 won’t be the last in the franchise, far from it.

It doesn’t come as all that much of a surprise that Keanu Reeves will continue with John Wick well into the future. And according to this latest report, it has been known for some time now that the fourth installment wouldn’t be the last in the converted killer’s story arc. With the way these movies have played out since the beginning of the franchise, continuing to ramp up the list of people who want a chance to kill Wick hasn’t been all that difficult. There always seems to be another group waiting to take the dude out. In this way, the films can almost go on for infinity.

The John Wick franchise didn’t have all that high of expectations when it originally hit the screen. The vengeance shoot-em-up with Keanu Reeves in the lead role was as simple as it was bloody. A crime syndicate leader’s kid takes out the wrong guy’s dog and it starts a bloody one-on-everybody street war for the main character. The film sucked us into the complicated and structured (and fake) world of contract hitmen/women with Wick being the cream of the killing crop. On a $20 million budget, it cranked out $86 million at the box office.

It was also a critical darling, scoring 87% on Rotten Tomatoes thanks in large part to how Keanu Reeves walked softly but shot a big gun throughout. The next two films, John Wick Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 – Parabellum basically doubled the box office receipts each time, earning $171 million and then $326 million respectively worldwide. They both cranked out 89% on Rotten Tomatoes as well pointing to a franchise that wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Because of all this success, we’ve known for quite some time that we were getting John Wick 4 and apparently it will shoot simultaneously with John Wick 5, going back-to-back early this year. Keanu Reeves is here to stay in the role, which is nothing but a good thing.

And besides crushing it in this franchise, Keanu Reeves is also about to release the much-anticipated fourth film in The Matrix franchise. Plus, he’s about to launch a new character BRZRKR on Netflix based on a comic book he helped create. So the guy has all the action films you can handle coming down the pike.
