At a time when several countries across the world are still struggling with the second wave of the pandemic, it is a tough task for film productions to complete shooting and continue providing people with a source of entertainment. And one such production that recently wrapped up its shooting is Judd Apatow’s The Bubble, which is scheduled to release on Netflix. How do we know the news? Well, the film’s star, the beloved Karen Gillan took to Instagram to share and celebrate the news in a unique way!
The Bubble, which was announced back in 2020, began filming in early 2021, and Karen Gillan’s excited post on Instagram confirms that filming for the production is now completed—a major accomplishment in these trying times. And Gillan makes sure to celebrate this feat with a dance party in her makeup trailer with her makeup team—Master hair colorist, A.J. Blackadder and make-up artist, Sara Osborn—and Judd Apatow’s daughter, Iris Apatow. And seeing them match the beats of The Spice Girls’ Stop is enough to confirm that they had one amazing time together while filming the Netflix comedy.
Karen Gillan’s dance video is accompanied by a caption wherein she thanks Judd Apatow for “making us all so much funnier” and how she feels lucky to have shot the film, especially during the present times when the COVID-19 pandemic has made everything a challenge.
In February 2021, Deadline had announced the complete cast of The Bubble, which includes Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Keegan Michael-Key, Leslie Mann, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova (Borat 2’s breakout star), Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, David Duchovny, and Peter Serafinowicz.
The Netflix comedy is all set to reflect the challenges of the pandemic with a dash of humor. As per reports, The Bubble will be about a group of actors shooting a film during the pandemic and when the situation worsens, they are stuck in quarantine. Whether they manage to complete the film and what chaos they trigger in the process is left to be seen. Films on the pandemic have not done well in the past and only time will tell whether a comedy about the same will sit well with the viewers.
The Bubble has been directed and produced by Judd Apatow, who has also co-written the script of the film with Pam Brady. Barry Mendel, Brady, and Donald Sabourin will serve as executive producers.
But The Bubble is not the only film Karen Gillan has finished shooting. She recently completed filming for her scenes as Nebula in Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, which is currently scheduled to release on May 6th, 2022. She has also wrapped up filming on the sci-fi adventure film, Dual, alongside her Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul. The film is currently set to premiere in 2021 though an exact release date is yet to be announced.
While a release date for The Bubble is yet to be officially announced, judging by Karen Gillan’s post it looks like the film will be out on Netflix very soon.
