The second season premiere of Kaley Cuoco’s HBO Max series The Flight Attendant is hitting the streaming platform next week, and it’s sure to be as twisty, intriguing, and darkly funny as the first season. One thing that the second season will have that the first season doesn’t is Sharon Stone slapping Kaley Cuoco…for real.

In a recent interview with TV Line, Kaley Cuoco revealed that during a particularly intense scene of the second season, Stone ended up slapping Cuoco across the face. But it wasn’t a stage slap, as Stone’s hand actually made solid contact. Cuoco revealed this tidbit with a laugh during the interview, saying that her reaction in the scene is very real and that it ended up being perfect, as it’s the shot they went with. Sharon Stone is playing the mother of Cuoco’s Cassie Bowden. If you’ve seen the first season, you’re probably aware of Cassie’s issues with alcohol and in the scene, her mother is fed up. It seems like Stone thought an extra layer of realism would add to this mother-daughter tension.

If you missed The Flight Attendant‘s first season, it stars Kaley Cuoco as Cassie Bowden — a flight attendant who wakes up in her hotel room with a mysterious dead body that she doesn’t remember. It received good reviews and Cuoco’s performance was especially notable. The first season was adapted from the novel by Chris Bohjalian, but the second season will be deviating from the source material. In Season 2, Cassie Bowden is living a sober life in LA and spending some of her time as a CIA asset. When she goes overseas, she witnesses a murder, which causes her to be wrapped up in another international plot.

Season 2 will also have a variety of trips to the “mind palace” that was introduced in Season 1. Only instead of meeting with the character previously inhabiting the mind palace, it will be full of other versions of Cassie, all played by Kaley Cuoco. Cuoco will undoubtedly be flexing her acting muscles for this season, as she dives into a variety of different personalities. If this sounds to you like a similar acting challenge that Tatiana Maslany faced in Orphan Black, you’d be right. Cuoco said as much, revealing that production had assistance from the Orphan Black team to set up the various Cassies.

Season 2 of The Flight Attendant will also have some interesting locations, as it was filmed and partly set in Berlin and Reyjavik in addition to the new LA location. In addition to Kaley Cuoco, much of the original cast is returning with Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Deniz Akdeniz, T.R. Knight, Yasha Jackson, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Rosie Perez. New cast members include Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez, JJ Soria, Santiago Cabrera, Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and the aforementioned Sharon Stone.

You can catch Kaley Cuoco and the rest of the cast in the first two episodes of Season 2 when it premiers on HBO Max on April 21.
