The time for blockbuster movies is back! While we still have a long wait until Jurassic World: Dominion reaches theaters, Universal Pictures is ready to start giving us reasons to get excited about it again. In the brand new teaser trailer we have for you today, one big promise is made clear about this upcoming movie: more dinosaurs. More variety, more epic visual effects, more reasons to go see this movie in a movie theater on the big screen when you’re safely able to do so.

See the new Jurassic World: Dominion trailer below.

It’s only 15 seconds, but the new Jurassic World: Dominion trailer is still something worth getting excited about for fans of the franchise. We don’t see Chris Pratt or any of the other actors in this clip. Instead, the team behind this movie is telling us a few specific things. For one thing, expect more dinosaurs. For another, parts of this movie aren’t just going to take place on Isla Nublar, the park where the films for the franchise mostly take place. At least, not the Isla Nublar in modern times. This footage shows us dinosaurs that look like they’re in a world back when they ruled the earth. Back when the entire world was in the dominion of dinosaurs.

This quick teaser is promising fans a full five-minute extended preview when they go to see the ninth Fast & Furious movie in IMAX theaters. That movie is releasing on June 25, 2021. This makes sense as a place for Universal to promote the upcoming Jurassic film. Fast & Furious is from the same studio as Jurassic World: Dominion. Both movies are big-budget blockbusters with awesome special effects that are deserving of the IMAX screens. The new extended preview features seven dinosaurs new to the Jurassic franchise and promises to give fans something to get excited about when they head to the theaters for F9.

Jurassic World: Dominion was filming right when COVID lockdowns started happening. They shut down in the beginning, began filming again in mid-2020, and had a rocky go of things. There were times when writer and director Colin Trevorrow was worried they’d end up with a movie only nearly done, never getting to actually complete it, but in the end filming did happen. Before this new trailer, the best look we’ve had from the movie was a behind-the-scenes shot of Chris Pratt with the director released with his interview for Empire. Now, it’s clear that real progress for the movie has been made and despite very long delays, it is coming.

The special extended preview in front of F9 will make some fans wonder about the possibility of a crossover event for Fast & Furious and Jurassic World. Since both are big blockbusters from the same studio, talk of a crossover movie where Vin Diesel meets dinosaurs gets talked about every once in a while. Does that seem extremely likely? No. However, it is still fun to imagine, and Universal Pictures only makes it more fun by putting this special extended preview for Jurassic World: Dominion in theaters with F9. You’ll be able to see the special extended preview in IMAX on June 25, 2021. The next Jurassic World movie will release in theaters nearly a year later on June 10, 2022.
