There is a lot of speculation about the upcoming Star Wars show Skeleton Crew, and most of this speculation is directed at the identity of Jude Law’s character. Law is a big name to get for a Star Wars show, and the fact that Lucasfilm is playing coy about his identity means that he could be playing a previously established character. ScreenRant recently took a stab at guessing who he might be playing, and they theorized that Law could be playing Lux Bonteri, who was once a love interest for Ahsoka Tano.

Jude Law playing Lux Bonteri in the Skeleton Crew series would make a lot of sense. Bonteri first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Skeleton Crew is set around the same time as The Mandalorian, meaning it’s happening roughly five years after the end of Return of the Jedi. With Lux being a kid in The Clone Wars series, it would make sense if he looked around the same age as Jude Law in this era.

Lux Bonteri originally appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as the son of Olderon Senator Mina Bonteri before taking up the mantle and becoming a Senator himself. Lux joined the rebel faction led by Saw Gerrara and would also join the Mandalorian Death Watch faction to seek revenge on Count Dooku. Following Gerrera’s death, Lux ended up leading an offshoot Rebel faction known as the Dreamers to right the rise of the Empire.

Jude Law could definitely pick up the role as a post-Empire Lux Bonteri in the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew, as the Inferno Squad novel confirmed that Lux was given the moniker “The Mentor.” Though little is known about the plot of Skeleton Crew, we do know that Law’s character is leading a group of young teenagers on a journey to find their way home. It certainly seems like he could play a mentor-like role for these teens, which would perfectly fit Lux Bonteri’s character.

If Jude Law ends up playing Lux in Skeleton Crew, it would also be a smart way to tie it in with the other Star Wars series that takes place in the post-Return of the Jedi era. Obviously, if Lux is a love interest for Ahsoka, we’d expect to see Law meet Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano in either Skeleton Crew or the solo Ahsoka series. Also, since Lux once joined up with the Mandalorian Death Watch faction, there’s always a chance he could pop up in an episode of The Mandalorian at some point.

Of course, there’s no way to know if this theory will pan out unless we hear about legitimate leaks or if Lucasfilm decides to let us know ahead of time. Until then, we’ll have to continue to speculate about Jude Law’s Star Wars character. Fortunately, the series is set to come out sometime this year, so at least we won’t have to wait that long to find out.
