Jude Law is an actor of phenomenal talent, to some, he is known as the heartthrob at the center of Christmas classic The Holiday, to others he is known as a villainous Kree warrior standing in the way of Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. Now though, Jude Law is making a remarkable comeback to the world of huge franchises with several reports stating the actor will be making his debut in a series set a long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far away. To clarify, Law will be starring in Disney+’s new series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The news came along with several other Galactic announcements coming out of the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. Jude Law’s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will make its bow next year; the show is created by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts and Star Wars renaissance men Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau will be executive producers. Star Wars even gave fans a look at the show’s logo, along with a smoldering headshot of star Jude Law via an official announcement on social media, which you can see below.

Variety reported earlier this month that Jon Watts had a Star Wars adventure in the works that harkened back to coming of age films of the 1980s and that Watts was bringing the show (set after the events of Return of the Jedi) to life with writer Christopher Ford. Following today’s announcement, Watts has revealed a little more of what fans can expect of the Jude Law led series, in a quote via Deadline, the show’s creator said that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew was about; “a group of kids who are about ten years old who gets lost in the Star Wars universe-“It stars four kids but it’s not a kids show.”

Not much more is known about the show as of yet, which marks another major franchise cornered by Jude Law after the likes of Marvel and Harry Potter, the latter of which sees Law star as the iconic Albus Dumbledore. However, it is known that this is not the only Star Wars show arriving on Disney+ next year. The Star Wars Celebration has been rife with announcements and among them has been that the third season of The Mandolorian will be arriving in February, as well as Ashoka coming along next year as well. Not only that but fans were offered a glimpse of the upcoming Andor series that will debut on August 31.

Jude Law has certainly picked an opportune moment to hop aboard the Star Wars bandwagon. As today’s announcements show, it is all systems go in a galaxy far, far away with several Disney+ bound series in the works. For Star Wars fans, the combination of Jude Law, a veteran actor with charm and talent, Jon Watts, the man responsible for making all Spider-Man fan’s wishes come true, and an 80’s coming of age dramatic premise, the prospect of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew looks unashamedly exciting. And for those who can’t wait for the show to air in 2023 along with Ashoka and season three of The Mandolorian, Friday’s Obi-Wan Kenobi is surely soon enough to whet the appetite.
