After being delayed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic, John Wick 4 has finally started filming. The cast of the film has been busy sharing training videos from the set. These are all in preparation for their respective roles in order to ensure fans that the fourth film in the saga is also going to pack quality high octane action like the last three installments. And now, another actor from the film, Shamier Anderson has shared a close-up peek at the extreme efforts he is putting in to get ready for his currently undisclosed role in John Wick 4.

It is yet to be known whether Anderson, last seen Netflix’s Stowaway and Awake, will be playing an adversary against Keanu Reeves’s character, the exceptional hitman and assassin John Wick in John Wick 4. The two might be on the same side. But it is clear from the video Anderson shared on Instagram that it is going to be one demanding role. In the training video, Anderson is seen practicing with different automatic firearms- a handgun, assault rifle, and a sniper rifle- and literally hundreds of bullets as he fires at a target.

We then see him engaging in hand-to-hand combat training and learning how to defend himself. He continues this intensive training by hitting the gym. Throughout the video, the actor’s commitment to his role in John Wick 4 and to making the film yet another blockbuster is palpable. Check it out:

“A storm is coming,” Anderson says in the caption. Well, a storm is indeed coming judging by the note John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum ended on. Last we saw John Wick, he was severely injured after being repeatedly shot by Winston (Ian McShane). He was secretly saved by the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), who survived the attack on him by the Adjudicator and Zero, and delivered to an underground bunker. In John Wick 4, both Wick and King are expected to join hands in bringing down the High Table. If the intense training video shared by Anderson is anything to go by, it is obvious that fans of the franchise are in for a real treat!

As for the future of the franchise, it has already been announced that John Wick 4 will be followed by a fifth film. Initially, both films were supposed to be filmed back to back but the pandemic delayed the shooting of the fourth film. Plans to film John Wick 5 had to be dropped with Keanu Reeves having a prior commitment to finish shooting The Matrix 4. But the good news is that the story of John Wick will most probably not end with the fifth film either. Reeves has assured that as long as fans’ demand for the films continues, he will keep making more sequels.

John Wick 4 stars Keanu Reeves as John Wick, Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King, Lance Reddick as Charon, while Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, and Scott Adkins have been cast in undisclosed roles. The film’s release date, which was May 21, 2021 earlier, has been shifted to May 27, 2022.
