The HBO Max show Peacemaker has been quite successful, to say the least. It is currently the most watched streaming show in the world, and is sitting pretty at a 94% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes. And with only two episodes left in the season, everyone wants answers to the question: will Peacemaker (John Cena) kill a cow? Just kidding, the trailer for the upcoming episode promises a lot more than that. Specifically, we will finally get to see Peacemaker/Christopher Smith’s white supremacist supervillain father Auggie Smith aka the White Dragon in action. After vowing in the preceding episode that he was finally going to kill his son, it looks like a father-son battle is imminent. Check out the trailer here:

But that’s not all that the 43 second trailer promises. We also see the return of Judomaster (Nhut Le), the martial arts expert and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos enthusiast most recently presumed dead after being shot by Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks). Much like The White Dragon (Robert Patrick), Judomaster appears to be out for blood. And of course, there is John Cena’s Peacemaker and his self-declared best friend Vigilante/Adrian Chase (Freddie Stroma) still on the run and the possibly/probably villainous alien invaders known as Butterflies, who most recently took over the bodies of an entire police precinct. It certainly seems like the penultimate episode of Peacemaker season one will be as action-filled as the rest of the season, which memorably began with a knock-down, wall-busting fight between a near-naked John Cena and an equally near-naked woman. It’s kind of a wild show.

Of course, that is what show creator James Gunn is known for. After hitting it big with the surprise success of Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel Studios, the former Troma director continued with an equally beloved Guardians sequel and then moved to the competing Warner Bros DCEU. Gunn’s soft reboot movie Suicide Squad was well received, with John Cena’s Peacemaker character being particularly critically praised. Given the phenomenal success of the Peacemaker show, it is not surprising that there is already talk of a second season. Gunn has also been throwing out some hints as to another unspecified. Suicide Squad spinoff show. The filmmaker is also slated to return to the MCU fold to direct the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

John Cena has crossed over into mainstream acting in a way that few of his professional wrestling peers have. With Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista as his contemporaries (and Hulk Hogan being perhaps a distant ancestor), it has been a boom time for pro wrestlers showing their bonafides in other mediums of entertainment. Cena has been especially noteworthy for his comedic abilities (as seen in both Peacemaker and the 2018 film Blockers), and for the remarkable sensitivity he can portray while still looking like he has been made out of roughly 15 cinder blocks. The preceding episode of the show unexpectedly culminated in a display of John Cena’s piano abilities, and we will just have to see what this next one reveals.
