It’s a cinematic tradition that you always go bigger in action sequels and it seems like Kevin Hart is doing just that with the second season of his Roku comedy Die Hart 2: Die Harter. To make Season 2 of Die Hart even bigger and better, he’s bringing quite a few new stars along for the ride including John Cena, Ben Schwartz, and Paula Pell. Nathalie Emmanuel will also be returning to reprise her role.

The first season of Die Hart saw Kevin Hart playing a fictionalized version of himself and working to become an action hero. After achieving his dream in Season 1, he’ll be looking to strengthen his legacy and become the greatest action hero of all time in Season 2. However, a revenge plot gets in the way and Hart must enlist his co-star (Nathalie Emmanuel), his assistant (Ben Schwartz), his assistant’s Mom (Paula Pell), and a top Hollywood stuntman (John Cena).

Eric Appel will also be returning to direct the next season with Tripper Clancy returning as a writer. While John Travolta isn’t coming back for another round, John Cena, Ben Schwartz, and Paula Pell should help to fill that void. There’s no premiere date set for the second season yet, but production has officially kicked off in Atlanta.

With Die Hart 2: Die Harter, John Cena continues to cement himself as a bankable TV and movie star. The WWE superstar has had some decent roles over the years, but he really got a chance to show off his acting talent in James Gunn’s Peacemaker series, which saw Cena reprising his role from 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Peacemaker was a super popular show for HBO and it did well enough to warrant a second season while simultaneously avoiding the DC cancellation bloodbath that’s going on at Warner Discovery right now.

Peacemaker is easily one of the best things DC has going for it in the TV and film department right now, and John Cena’s performance is a big part of its success. We should be seeing Season 2 hit streaming sometime in 2023, so we’ll see if Cena and Gunn can keep up the quality and meet the high bar they set in Season 1. Until then, you can catch the first season streaming right now on HBO Max.

John Cena also has quite a few movie projects on the way. Of these upcoming films, the Matthew Vaughn-directed Argylle is possibly the most anticipated. The film will follow the world’s greatest spy on a globe-trotting adventure. Henry Cavill stars along with Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Ariana DeBose, and Dua Lipa.

Along with Argylle, which is set for a 2023 release, Cena is also set to have roles in Coyote V. Acme, The Independent, Freelance, The Janson Directive, and Ricky Stanicky. Sadly, there hasn’t been much news on the film Snafu, which is an action movie that Jackie Chan and John Cena shot together. There’s always a chance that Snafu could see the light of day, but it might just be one of those movies that become lost to time.
