Every once in a while, Adam Sandler finds a leading actress that he works well with and stars alongside them in multiple films. For example, Sandler worked with Drew Barrymore in The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, Julie Bowen in Happy Gilmore and Hubie Halloween, and Salma Hayek in the Grown Ups series. Yet Sandler might have found his favorite costar, since a new rumor suggests that after working with Jennifer Aniston in both Just Go With It and Murder Mystery, the two are reuniting for a third film together.

This comes from gossip entertainment writer Daniel Richtman who states on his Patreon that Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston have a third film in the works, this one for Netflix. Yet despite this being presented as a rumor by Richtman, it’s actually already announced news. Soon after Murder Mystery earned the biggest opening weekend for a film on Netflix, the streaming service announced that a Murder Mystery sequel was in the works, with Sandler and Aniston expected to return. Since Richtman doesn’t give any further details about this rumor, it’s not clear if he’s talking about another project, or if he’s talking about this already announced project.

Even though the Murder Mystery sequel was announced in 2019, no news has been made about the project since, including whether or not Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston will be reprising their roles. However, the announcement did say that the sequel was expected to see the return of James Vanderbilt, who wrote the script of the original film.

Yet despite the fact that Adam Sandler’s films have made over three billion dollars at the box office, the comedian rarely does sequels. With the exception of Grown Ups 2 and the Hotel Transylvania series, the actor doesn’t seem that interested in making sequels to his previous films. The same seems to be true of Jennifer Aniston, who has only made one sequel, with 2014’s Horrible Bosses 2. Maybe instead of making a Murder Mystery sequel, Sandler and Aniston have convinced Netflix to let them just make another film together?

But with Adam Sandler’s deal with Netflix apparently mutually beneficial for both parties, it seems like whatever Sandler wants to do, Netflix will allow. Sandler is currently filming his next Netflix film, entitled Hustle. The film is co-produced by LeBron James, and follows a former basketball recruiter as he attempts to rebuild his career by bringing a new player from overseas to play in the NBA. The film also features Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, and Ben Foster. Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston has a few films announced, but nothing concrete right now going forward, with the exception of The Morning Show Season 2, planned to release later this year.

It certainly seems like Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston like working together, so getting them together for a new Netflix film probably wouldn’t be the hardest thing for the streaming service to do. Whether or not is the previously announced Murder Mystery sequel, or something else entirely has yet to be seen, but certainly Netflix wouldn’t mind multiple Sandler-Aniston films on their service.
