Jimmy Kimmel Live! is well known for its casual atmosphere and for welcoming guests as varied as President Barack Obama to Jennifer Lawrence. This week, Aquaman star Jason Momoa came onto the late-night talk show to promote his newest Netflix film, Slumberland, in which he wore a costume from the flick and sported his newest head tattoo for Jimmy Kimmel to comment on. During the first segment of his interview, Momoa chose to strip down to show off his undergarments, a traditional Hawaiian malo that showcased the actor’s naked butt for the audience to see.

While commenting on a picture of Jason Momoa fishing recently in the Hawaiian malo, Jimmy Kimmel took the time to express how funny he thought it was for the star of Aquaman to be fishing off of a boat. Momoa decided to show the audience in the studio and at home what a malo actually looks like in person, exposing the actor’s full 6’4″ frame for all to witness in real-time. Delighting viewers with his tanned behind, Jason Momoa seemed to be having a blast promoting his newest Netflix feature film as this appears to be the actor’s first comedy of his decades-long acting career.

Slumberland is a big-budget blockbuster that will begin streaming on Netflix on November 18, with a limited theatrical release that starts November 11. Directed by Hunger Games helmer Francis Lawrence, Slumberland tells the story of a young girl named Nema (Marlow Barkley) who collaborates with an outlaw (Jason Momoa) to find her dead father in a dreamworld called Slumberland. The fantasy adventure comedy costars Friday Night Lights alum Kyle Chandler, Bridesmaids star Chris O’Dowd, I May Destroy You’s Weruche Opia, and British actor India de Beaufort.

The Hawaiian malo that Jason Momoa sported while being interviewed this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live! is something he has been wearing as part of another project he is currently working on for Apple TV+, Chief of War. The limited series is supposed to reflect late 18th century Hawaii and the actor will be featured wearing the malo throughout parts of the upcoming show. Slash Film reports that Chief of War is co-created and written by Momoa, and the native Hawaiian will star in the project alongside The Book of Boba Fett actor Temuera Morrison.

In speaking to Jimmy Kimmel this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jason Momoa remarked that he hopes children of all ages enjoy watching Slumberland on Netflix or in the theater, as his own kids have seen the film and enjoyed it very much. Momoa has recently separated from his wife of five years, The Cosby Show actor Lisa Bonet, and the ex-couple is expected to be divorcing very soon. He has been hard at work on his acting career in the meantime, as Jason Momoa recently wrapped production on several high-profile entries into well-known established franchises, including reprising his role as Arthur Curry in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as well as costarring in Fast X, both of which are set to be released in 2023.
