Jason Momoa says one aspect of his character disappointed him in Fast X. Speaking during a virtual press roundtable, the Aquaman star revealed that the downside to his role was a lack of driving time. “My only one maybe like bummer of the whole thing is I didn’t get to drive more, which is gonna change in the next one,” the DC alum explained via CinemaBlend.

“That’ll be my massive request, is going like, ‘I would love to go to driving school.’ I would love to go learn that stuff,” the actor continued. Jason Momoa explained that he did a lot of work on a motorcycle but wants more time driving cars in the future. “I know how to ride motorcycles just from doing my own thing, and so I did 80% of the motorcycle stuff, which is great.”

“I’m super happy they trusted me to do it,” he said. Jason Momoa added that he didn’t mind a stuntman taking on the more challenging aspects of driving as long as he got more time behind the wheel in the next installment. “The stunts that would jeopardize the whole picture, obviously a stunt man would take that over, but I really would love to drive more,” he said.

While Jason Momoa may have preferred more driving time in Fast X, his performance has impressed audiences who have seen early screenings of the film. Although the overall results are mixed, Dante Reyes is one of the major highlights. Eric Eisenberg of CinemaBlend describes Momoa’s performance as a “delightful” portrayal of a “gleeful psychopath.”

It remains to be seen how global audiences feel about Jason Momoa’s Fast X villain, especially since the movie is said to end on a cliffhanger. The son of a drug lord, Dante seeks revenge against Dom and his crew for the loss of his family’s fortune during the events of Fast Five.

Jason Momoa previously described the character as Dom’s foil. “Dante is very sadistic and androgynous, and he’s a bit of a peacock… He’s got a lot of issues. He’s definitely got some daddy issues” The actor also wanted to steer clear of his tough-guy typecasting when portraying Dante. As such, he enjoyed the villain having a less macho personality.
