If you ask any DC fan who is on their shortlist of characters they want to see in James Gunn’s new DCU, “The Main Man,” Lobo would land near the top of all of them. If you asked those same fans who they’d like to see portray that character, most of them would knee-jerk react by spitting out the name of Aquaman actor Jason Momoa. As you can see, artists have taken to social media to show just how perfect the Game of Thrones actor is for the part.

The artist is known for his concept art surrounding the superhero film genre primarily, putting actors in the skins of comic book characters such as Jason Issacs as Magneto, Austin Butler as Green Arrow, and Adam Driver as Reed Richards. While he has a healthy mix of artwork for both Marvel characters and DC characters, his image of Jason Momoa suiting up as the most badass bounty hunter in the universe gives the most hype for what is to come. The red eyes, black eye makeup, and mustache make the actor look ripped straight out of the pages of DC Comics.

If you are unfamiliar with the character of Lobo, you are in for a treat if he is indeed destined to appear on the big screen in the new universe James Gunn has in store. While the MCU is about to add both Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into their franchise, Lobo could compete with them as he is an insane combination of the two. He has the grittiness of Wolverine with the chaotic nature of Deadpool, sporting the look of a Hell’s Angel biker and the hedonistic lifestyle of a man looking for the most extreme experience he can find, whether it be a bar fight or a lady of the night.

Jason Momoa as Aquaman

Jason Momoa’s Lobo in the DCU would act as an intergalactic bounty hunter, taking money from whoever pays the most and disregarding the idea of a good guy or bad guy. He chases down his bounties riding his space cycle, which he affectionately named Spacehog, munching on a cigar and using his superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and regeneration. And to make him even more badass, his name means “he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it” in his native tongue.

Not only is Lobo the perfect kind of character for James Gunn, being quirky and a relative unknown like the Guardians of the Galaxy or Peacemaker, but Jason Momoa is the perfect fit to play him. Josh also posted an image of concept art of a prospective Justice League that features Wolfgang Novogratz as Superman, Jacob Elordi as Batman, Miles Teller as Green Lantern, and Lucas Till as Flash. Lobo showing up to capture Superman as a bounty for some intergalactic hunter would be a great introduction to his character.

Now that there is some room for the DCU to start over and expand into something more fun in the future, Jason Momoa as “The Main Man” is the kind of character we’ve been waiting for.
