Jamie Foxx And Snoop Dogg Are Killing Vampires Together
Jaime Foxx is teaming up with none other than the legendary rapper, Snoop Dogg, for a brand-new vampire slaying movie on Netflix called Day Shift.
It has been a bit since we last saw Jamie Foxx in a movie. Well, not that long. He recently reprised his role as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He famously portrayed the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now, the man is going to be the main figure in a film that sounds equal parts fun and silly: Day Shift. The film comprises itself with a man who works as a pool cleaner as a front to his real job: vampire slaying. There have been some exciting behind-the-scenes shots taken via a promo video for Netflix. We have also learned that legendary rapper, Snoop Dogg, will also be joining Foxx in the film.
Strangely, we do see some brief shots of Snoop Dogg in the above inside look video. However, his character seems to be rocking a much different look than his usual outfits. He is also going by his birth name and not his performing name. That name is Calvin Broadus. There are rumors that his name in the film is Big John. It does make sense considering his costume seems to be quite grandiose. Most of the shots in the above featurette are of Snoop in a long trench coat, cowboy hat, and a big mustache. Joining both Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg is funnyman Dave Franco.
The interesting thing about Day Shift is that the film is being helmed by longtime stun coordinator, J.J. Perry. Perry has nearly 150 credits to his name from working on stunts. Some of his most famous are the John Wick franchise films. For anyone that has seen the fight sequences in those films, you know how amazing Perry is at his job. Now the man is taking his talents to the director’s chair. Jamie Foxx does comment quite a lot in the above video about how Perry is using practical effects to showcase some of the vampire’s abilities in this film. Honestly, we haven’t had a vampire film like this in a long time, so we are excited to see how it turns out.
Day Shift is set to premiere on Netflix on August 12th, and the cast is quite expansive. Besides Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and Dave Franco, joining them are Megan Good, Steve Howey, Scott Adkins, Oliver Masucci, Eric Lange, and many more. J.J. Perry has clearly impressed Netflix enough to give him his shot at directing, as he is tasked with making a movie with an impressive cast. Foxx and Dogg killing vampires together sounds awesome and reminds us of From Dusk Till Dawn.
Day Shift premieres on Netflix in just over a month. Fans of Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and the rest of the cast can see everyone take on the role of vampire hunters. We are not sure where the film will go next, but if it goes well enough, we might be seeing the next big vampire franchise premiering soon. We all could use some mindless vampire slaying and the above behind-the-scenes feature has made us that much more excited.
