Ever since Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds joined forces to announce their collaboration in the upcoming Deadpool 3, the two actors have continued their fake feud on social media that began years ago. Now, it appears that Jackman is increasing his antics on Twitter by posting a video in honor of Reynolds’ birthday that occurred on October 23, humming to the tune of “Happy Birthday” while holding a cupcake in front of photographs of Reynolds. In the very amusing post while taking one last jab at his friend and fellow costar, Jackman states, “I’m the best there is at what I do, and what I do, isn’t very nice.”

Ryan Reynolds turned 46 years-old yesterday and seemed to celebrate with his wife Blake Lively, as many of his social media accounts were flooded with messages from friends and fellow celebrities wishing the Canadian actor a very happy birthday. Hugh Jackman was one of those friends, as the two have known one another since filming 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in which Jackman starred as the titular Wolverine to Reynolds’ Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool. The two have remained friends ever since and have an infamous rivalry on social media, where each actor tends to roast the other for their own amusement, which includes the latest birthday message from Jackman on Twitter.

According to a breakdown report by CinemaBlend, the fake feud between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has consisted of several iterations that have been mostly published to social media over the past decade or so. The feud in question began when Reynolds was married to actor Scarlett Johansson and Jackman and Johansson were close friends, and has since proceeded into other territory.

For instance, Reynolds imitated Jackman in the run-up to People’s Sexiest Man Alive campaign in 2015. Likewise, the two actors made fake political ads to target one another in 2018, and seemed to be concluding when Reynolds quipped in 2019 that Jackman was a “fraud.” In reality, the two have remained friends since filming X-Men Origins: Wolverine, leading to an upcoming collaboration that will see both actors reprising their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles in the third installment of the Deadpool franchise.

For fans of the X-Men and Deadpool series of films, having Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds on screen together again is likely a dream come true. It opens up the possibility that other characters from both comic book series could find their way into future installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. X-Men was first released in 2000 and introduced Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, spawning several sequels that morphed with 2019’s prequel film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix starring Sophie Turner, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Tye Sheridan, and Jessica Chastain. The original X-Men movies starred Halle Berry, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, and Anna Paquin alongside Jackman.

The film helped paved the way for films like Deadpool to exist. So, the upcoming release of Deadpool 3 may be the first glimpse into what Marvel Studios has in store for its loyal viewers. And they would love to see how Marvel addresses X-Men and mutants that exist within the same universe of sorts.
