Sylvester Stallone might no longer be part of the Rocky universe, as he has vocally stated his displeasure with the franchise’s long-time producer, Irwin Winkler. However, Stallone and Braden Aftergood of Balboa Productions Balboa Pictures are producing a new boxing movie called, Giant. Giant is also bringing along Paddy Considine from House of the Dragon and Mena Massoud from Aladdin.

Sylvester Stallone might not be appearing in the movie himself, but adding Paddy Considine is certainly going to excite many people, as he delivered a magnanimous performance as King Viserys in House of the Dragon. Mena Massoud was also quite fantastic in the role of Aladdin, which we presume he going to return for in the sequel.

Giant will follow the real-life events of British-Yemeni boxer Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed, and how he came from nothing and was coached into a world championship by Irish-born boxing trainer, Brendan Ingle. We would assume that Naz is being portrayed by Mena Massoud and Ingle will be portrayed by Considine. Paddy Considine and Sylvester Stallone sound like a winning combination already.

Hamed’s life will be showcased during a tumultuous time during the ’80s and ’90s in Britain when Islamophobia and racism existed heavily, and how the unlikely partnership of Hamed and Ingle led to one of the best success stories. Rowan Athale will be handling the directing duties, as he famously directed The Rise, Gangs of London, and Strange But True. We are more than excited to see the dynamic between Paddy Considine and Mena Massoud, especially with the help of Sylvester Stallone.

As previously mentioned, Paddy Considine is coming off an amazing performance in House of the Dragon, which is likely to score the actor many nominations for Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor when the Emmys roll around. Considine was mistakingly left out of the running for the Golden Globes for Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor, though House of the Dragon won Best Drama Series.

There has not yet been mentioned if this new boxing drama is going to receive a theatrical release, but we would assume that it would consider Balboa Pictures is involved. Also, Paddy Considine certainly deserves a big-budget movie, especially after his time on House of the Dragon, which we imagine has been seen by everyone including Sylvester Stallone.

Sylvester Stallone has his own budding series happening, as the Tulsa King show on Paramouont+ has been a huge hit. The series follows a mobster named Dwight “The General” Manfredi, who is released from prison and then outcast to Oklahoma, where he creates his own criminal enterprise. Taylor Sheridan created the hit series, and it would be great if he got Paddy Considine to jump into the series with Sylvester Stallone.

Giant is in the pre-production stages currently, so we only know that Paddy Considine is starring, and Sylvester Stallone is an executive producer. We are likely to find out more about casting choices and where the movie will land in the coming weeks, though this sounds like it might not be a streaming feature. However, streaming companies like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are upping their content, so we wouldn’t say for sure that it wouldn’t be a streaming release just yet.
