Homelander actor Antony Starr from the hit Amazon Prime Video series The Boys has been a favorite for fans to cast in the role of Logan a.k.a. Wolverine. That might have something to do with Starr himself advocating for an opportunity to play the role. He has said that Wolverine is the part he would most want to play, and that has kicked the imaginations of fans into hyperdrive.
That means that we have gotten quite a few looks at what the once and future Homelander could look like if he suited up as everyone’s favorite cigar-chomping, claw-sprouting mutant. And today brings yet another one that helps make a strong argument for why Marvel should eventually cast Antony Starr as Wolverine.
Instagram user and artist ApexForm posted this mockup of what the Homelander actor could appear like in a future Wolverine project. Take a look for yourself and judge whether or not Antony Starr would fit the bill as Logan:
It is hard to argue that Antony Starr does not cut a great figure as Wolverine. Strangely, the Homelander actor actually looks a little bit like Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth from the widely derided film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. That should not be misconstrued as a slight against Starr. It is just an odd bit of synchronicity that this piece of concept art happened to dredge up.
Even if the Homelander actor ended up nabbing the role of Wolverine, it could be a very long time before we see the X-Men or any mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the huge amount of announcements that Disney made during their enormous Investor Day presentation, there was nothing that indicated we would be seeing the X-Men or mutants pop up any time soon. It seems like we will be getting the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before we ever get the X-Men.
And we still have plenty more Homelander to enjoy in The Boys. The second season of the hit show recently wrapped up and we know that a third season is immediately on the way. Antony Starr has proven to be the breakout star from The Boys and it is certain that he will be staying busy with the show for as long as the audience’s interest stays at a high level. Committing to a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe means clearing a lot of your schedule. And that will probably be doubly true for such a prominent character like Wolverine. If he wants the role, it might have to happen after The Boys has come to an end.
Still, we would love nothing more than to see Antony Starr tackle the role of Logan. Hugh Jackman left a definitive stamp n the character, but it would be fantastic to see someone like Starr get a chance at making the role his own. If he manages to have both Homelander and Wolverine under his belt, he will go down in superhero cinema history as one of the luckiest and most talented actors to ever don a pair of tights.
