Henry Cavill has had a rough time lately. A few months ago, he suffered a leg injury that briefly held up filming on The Witcher season two. It’s also been up in the air for months whether he will be returning as Superman, and recently, rumors have been flying about a new Superman project that could be starring Michael B. Jordan. The actor has also come under fire recently for previously dating Gina Carano. Now it’s being rumored that Henry Cavill is negotiating with Netflix for a better deal for the next season of The Witcher.

This news comes from gossip writer Daniel Richtman. He says that following the news of Superman productions moving forward without him, Henry Cavill is looking to increase his pay for the next season of The Witcher. It’s worth noting here that so far we know there is a Superman reboot happening without Cavill, but that the actor is reportedly still going to be offered Clark Kent cameos. It sounds like the Superman franchise is moving in a new direction, and we likely won’t be seeing Man of Steel 2, but Henry Cavill may still appear in some DC Extended Universe projects.

Still, why ask for more money now? He may be wishing to secure a higher payday for The Witcher since he can no longer count on Superman money. For season two of The Witcher, Henry Cavill is reportedly earning $400k per episode. This makes him one of the highest-paid actors at Netflix after the huge success of The Witcher‘s first season. Yet with Cavill’s future in the DC Universe seeming uncertain with this new Superman film in development, it looks like Cavill is bargaining for a better deal at an unexpected low point for the actor.

Daniel Richtman also made other claims about Henry Cavill this week. He said that Cavill is currently shopping around for other projects, including possibilities at Marvel. Joining another major franchise can always be a strong move for an actor’s career, but it seems unlikely that Cavill would be able to move from the lead to one superhero universe to another with relative ease. It also seems even more likely that Cavill is just going to be one of multiple Supermen, and that this new Superman reboot doesn’t have any bearing on his version of the character.

While this series of rumors has been hitting Henry Cavill hard, we’re also about to see him as Superman again. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be hitting HBO Max on March 18, 2021. That may feel like salt in the wound for Cavill, however, fans will be excited to see the new cut and compare how the project holds up to its original take. Hopefully, this will mean more positive media attention for the star soon.

Currently, The Witcher season two is the only known upcoming project for Henry Cavill. However, he recently posted on Instagram hinting he may have an upcoming secret project. While it may have been the script for season two of The Witcher, the hint still got fans excited. As for The Witcher season two, filming has begun, but there is no announcement for when we can expect to see the latest season yet.
