Henry Cavill may not play James Bond, but he’s got another British Spy franchise on his plate now with the World War II thriller The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Deadline reported Cavill’s role and that The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is set to be directed by Guy Ritchie with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman producing under the Bruckheimer Film banner. Eiza Gonzelez is also set to star opposite Cavill.

The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is inspired by the real-life event of Winston Churchill’s and Ian Fleming’s secret WWII combat organization, which utilized ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques against the Nazis, helping to change the outcome of the war. Henry Cavill is set to play the leader of the secret combat organization with Eiza Gonzales playing an elite military sniper. The script, penned by Ritchie and Arash Amel, is based on the book of the same name by Damien Lewis.

Henry Cavill is an easy choice to lead a spy franchise (especially one that involved Ian Fleming in some way or another), as fans have long been clamoring for him to take up the Bond role after Daniel Craig’s departure. Cavill proved his spy chops opposite Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, with his performance being a standout part of the movie. Cavill will also be appearing in another spy thriller in 2023 when he plays the title role in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle.

Clearly, Henry Cavill as a spy is in high demand, but Cavill will also be returning to a much less covert role when he dons the red and blue tights of Superman once again. Cavill recently had a surprise appearance in the post-credits sequence of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. With Henry Cavill now officially returning as the Man of Steel, he’s got yet another ongoing franchise to his name.

While Henry Cavill isn’t playing super-spy and superhero, he’s taking on the fantasy world as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher series. The next season of The Witcher is set to come out in 2023, so it won’t be long until we hear Cavill grumbling as the White Wolf once again. Of course, you can see Cavill much sooner than 2023 in another Netflix project with Enola Holmes 2.

Enola Holmes 2 sees Henry Cavill portray yet another iconic character as he reprises his role as Sherlock Holmes from the first Enola Holmes movie. Enola Holmes 2 features Millie Bobby Brown in the title role as she takes on her first official case as a detective-for-hire. The film is set to hit Netflix on November 4.

As for when we can expect to see Henry Cavill in The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, we’ll just have to wait until they give us a release window. The last time Cavill and Guy Ritchie teamed up were for the highly underrated spy thriller The Man from U.N.C.L.E. so the film will no doubt be worth the wait. Since they’re planning on making a franchise out of The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the upcoming film likely won’t be the last time we see the two work together.
