Fans of the HBO sci-fi show Raised by Wolves will have to find another show about androids trying to be good parents to watch because this one is getting the boot. HBO Max recently made a statement to Variety making it clear that Raised by Wolves would not be coming back for a third season. There are currently two seasons on the platform, so at least fans will have those to enjoy still. The second season recently premiered in February of this year.

Raised by Wolves was a sci-fi drama that followed two androids raising humans on the burgeoning planet of Keplar-22b. The androids were sent to the planet to raise the human children after Earth is torn apart by religious differences. The appearance of a religious sect known as the Mithraic complicates their peaceful plans. Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim played the Mother and Father androids respectively, that raised the human children in the series. The show had an interesting premise and it was well-crafted with high-quality production. This isn’t too surprising, as Ridley Scott created the series along with Aaron Guzikowski and David W. Zucker. Ridley Scott isn’t known for cutting corners with his projects, so many fans will definitely be disappointed to see this sci-fi epic go.

In addition to Amanda Collin and Abubakar Salim, Raised by Wolves starred Winta McGrath, Travis Fimmel, Niamh Algar, Jordan Loughran, Felix Jamieson, Ethan Hazzard, Aasiya Shah, Ivy Wong, and many more. Abubakar Salim, for his part, is pushing for the series to get renewed for another season in some way or another. The actor took to Twitter, making a thread of Tweets talking about the slim chance that they could find a new home for the show and that fans should rally behind the efforts to bring it back.

As Abubakar Salim mentioned in his Tweet, it seems like the merger between Warner and Discovery might be the reason behind this shakeup. The new Warner Bros Discovery banner has made quite a few changes behind the scenes, and it seems like some of their properties are suffering the consequences of whatever strategy they’re employing in the wake of the merger. Several CW superhero shows have also got the ax and J.J. Abrams is currently in a budget battle for one of his upcoming shows. It seems like the new Warner Bros Discovery has some very particular plans and these shows just didn’t fit in them.

If you were drawn to Raised by Wolves because of Ridley Scott’s involvement, the good news is that the acclaimed producer and director has plenty of new projects in the works for the near future. On the TV side alone, he’s producing several series including Great Expectations, Pompeii, and Alien. Since these shows are in the early, early stages of development, it’s not a sure thing that they’ll come to fruition. However, we will be getting his next directorial effort with Napoleon. The film is in post-production and tells the story of Napoleon Bonaparte through the lens of his wife Josephine.
