Hawkeye has wrapped up on Disney+ and everyone is still reeling about the potentiality of Hawkeye Season 2 and what could possibly happen next with the show. Marvel is and always will be secretive in their plans for further films and shows unless Tom Holland is there to ruin the surprise. The director of the series, Rhys Thomas, was recently interviewed about how the show’s biggest moments came about and where they might take the series in its inevitable second season. Thomas simply said, “I cannot speak to future plans in the tradition of secrecy.”

Of course, his secrecy is something that is a bit of a tradition for the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, otherwise, none of the shows or films involved would be that surprising or thought-provoking. Though everyone hates cliffhangers, they also like them as a result of keeping their need and want for thrill alive. Hawkeye Season 2 is clearly going to happen as Thomas made it abundantly clear that they have plans already, he just can’t speak to them just yet. Of course, he couldn’t, otherwise, how would they have kept Vincent D’Onofrio a secret this entire time?

One of the biggest things that surprised Thomas and made him happy is how the reaction to Hailee Steinfeld was received as a pseudo-Hawkeye. Plenty of reviews from the show, especially in the beginning, said that her portrayal of another bow user was superb and she had been essentially putting the entire show on her back. Thomas had this to say about her: “And it’s been great to see Hailee’s character embraced and sort of land so firmly in the MCU. I sincerely look forward to where that character goes next. And yes, I loved walking on the streets of the MCU and would gladly enjoy doing it again.” It sounds that if and when a Hawkeye Season 2 happens, Kate Bishop might be given a more starring role.

That is a logical step that the Marvel Cinematic Universe could take with the show, and this might help bring in the Young Avengers. There are plenty of young and upcoming superheroes that could theoretically join the team. Especially Florence Pugh also taking on the role of the next Black Widow, considering her older sister had died as a result of the events of Endgame. When pitched about the potential team-up in Hawkeye Season 2, Thomas said: “Tell me about it. It’s great. It writes itself. A Thelma and Louise theme.” Sounds like the pairing of Pugh and Steinfeld is on the horizon.

Those two alone could join forces and be what Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff were to one another. This could usher in the next phase of the Avengers, which is a strong likelihood considering how many iterations of the team have been in the comics, and well there have even been a few shakeups of the team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe already. Especially with how deeply laden the multiverse is in the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Plenty of different Avengers teams could be formed and shown sooner rather than later.
