Halle Berry is setting up to do another high-octane movie and this one could end up having a pretty cool bent to it. The actress has plenty of action flicks under her belt already, having taken part in one of the bigger superhero franchises before. But this next film does sound a little different than some previous work. The word is that she will star opposite Mark Wahlberg in Our Man from Jersey which will debut on Netflix and is being described as a blue-collar James Bond film.

Now what it looks like when James Bond goes more of the working class route remains to be seen. I suspect that’s a loose description of a character or characters who maybe lack the cool toys provided by Q and instead use their ass-kicking nature to get the job done. And before you think we are getting that blue-collar New Jersey vibe of things, this Jersey could refer to the merry-old-England version because apparently filming will take place in London. This isn’t going to be all Bruce Springsteen albums or Jersey Shore vibes. Halle Berry and Wahlberg are heading across the pond for this one.

There isn’t currently a director tied to the movie but David Guggenheim penned the script. He has an eclectic bunch of writing credits including Safe House but then there’s also The Christmas Chronicles (he did sequels for both) and he was a lead writer on Designated Survivor as well. This will be the first time he and Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg will have worked on a movie together.

And this Netflix movie isn’t going to be the only work Halle Berry will be doing with the streaming platform. She has something else in the works as well and it will be a big step for the actress who will now be able to add director to her resume as well. She’s inked a deal to make her directorial debut, which is TBD at this point, on Netflix.

Before that though Halle Berry has another movie on the streaming platform in Mothership which is set to be a science fiction film in which Berry plays a woman whose husband has mysteriously disappeared. That would feel bad enough but then she finds something under the house which points to either a conspiracy or something much, much worse. That’s set to release next year.

She’ll also team up with Roland Emmerich who is in the director’s chair for Moonfall and co-stars others like Patrick Wilson, Donald Sutherland, Charlie Plummer, and Michael Pena. They are tasked with rescuing Earth when the Moon falls out of orbit. Moonfall will be another Emmerich big-budget film after he’s helmed other ones like Midway, Independence Day: Resurgence, White House Down, and Day After Tomorrow

As for Halle Berry, she’s made action films kind of her thing lately with a hand in a bunch of cool ones over the last few years. There was Kingsman: The Golden Circle and of course she had a role in John Wick 3: Parabellum as well. Last year’s Bruised broke that up, so to speak, with a story about an MMA fighter. But this kind of film is definitely in her bag. It’s going to be a busy couple of years for the actress with a lot in the works.
