Halle Berry shows off vintage lingerie in these picks from the production of Introducing Dorothy Dandridge.

Halle Berry has shared a photoset of herself in various sets of sexy vintage lingerie on her very popular Instagram account, revealing that they once belonged to the legendary actress and singer Dorothy Dandridge. The Academy Award-winning actress began her career as a model and beauty pageant contestant. These photos show that she did not lose an ounce of her skills when she transitioned to a new career. The fact that the pictures are all in Polaroid form just adds another layer of retro-sexiness to this particular Halle Berry set.

Halle Berry’s social media presence tends to the chaotic and random, with pictures of her dogs (sadly, not the actual dogs owned by her John Wick character) on the Instagram grid alongside images of the star in stunning dresses or just dressed up like a goof. In this case, Halle Berry is showing off pictures from over 20 years ago and it is pretty amazing that she barely looks different. These Polaroids are apparently costume fittings from her 1999 HBO movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, in which she played the star and wore her actual clothing.

According to the caption on Halle Berry’s post, the various articles of clothing and lingerie she is wearing were donated by Dorothy Dandridge’s manager Earl Mills (played in the HBO film by Star Trek’s Brent Spiner) and all fit perfectly. It seems this what Halle Berry and other people from the production called the “Dottie Body.” We do not venture to speculate that Halle Berry (who was born in 1966) is the literal reincarnation of Dorothy Dandridge (who died in 1965), but we are just going to leave that implication hanging.

Introducing Dorothy Dandridge was a breakout role for Halle Berry, who won both the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie and the Golden Globe and Best Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television for portraying the Porgy and Bess actress. Prior to that, Halle Berry had made her feature film debut in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever and appeared in notable films like the Kurt Russell thriller Executive Decision and the live-action adaptation of The Flintstones, among many others.

However, the very next year, Halle Berry nabbed her most iconic role as Ororo Munroe aka Storm in the first X-Men film, starring alongside Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Famke Janssen. She has reprised the role in numerous films (most recently in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past), and we recently reported that Ryan Reynolds is looking to get both Halle Berry and James Marsden back as Storm and Cyclops for Deadpool 3.

It does not seem like Halle Berry will be showing up in John Wick: Chapter 4, but we have high hopes that her character Sofia could appear in one of the many upcoming Wickverse projects. For now, Halle Berry has a full slate of her own projects, including the science fiction film The Mothership, co-starring with Mark Wahlberg in Our Man from Jersey, and the upcoming tense thriller Mother Land.
