Hawkeye, one of many Marvel series in production for Disney+, is currently in the middle of filming in New York City. While Jeremy Renner is reprising his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, many have wondered who would be playing Kate Bishop, who will be next to take up the title of Hawkeye. Just yesterday, Hailee Steinfeld hinted that she would be playing Bishop, and already, we have our first footage of Steinfeld in the role.

The video is pretty straightforward, as Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld walk down the steps into a New York City subway, walking Lucky the Pizza Dog. Steinfeld looks to be in a black trench coat with a purple shirt underneath – nicely mimicking Hawkeye’s usual colors – while holding a giant bow. If there was any question that Steinfeld would play Kate Bishop, the bow that’s almost as tall as her is a good sign she’s going to take the place of the Avenger.

While Hailee Steinfeld has been rumored for the part for quite some time now, the evidence has been stacking up lately. Yesterday, Steinfeld posted an Instagram photo, with a caption ending with the bow-and-arrow emoji. Earlier today on his Twitter account, Jeremy Renner posted a picture of his chair on the set of what looks to be the same subway, with the caption, “Ms Bishop … we need you !” The casting of Hailee Steinfeld seems obvious at this point, yet Marvel has yet to confirm.

Hawkeye is just one of many projects Hailee Steinfeld is currently involved with. Steinfeld has already wrapped the second season of Dickinson, which is scheduled to premiere in January, with a third season on the way. Steinfeld will also be reprising her role as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen in the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel, planned for a 2022 release. While the film hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, nor whether or not Steinfeld will return, it also seems very likely that a Bumblebee sequel is in the works, considering the film made $467 million worldwide and gave the Transformers franchise the best reviews the series has received yet.

Yet Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld’s Hawkeye is just one of many Disney+ shows coming in the very near future. While WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are completed and ready to be released, Hawkeye is one of three series currently filming. Loki is filming it’s six-episode series presently, while Ms. Marvel is also in production and aiming for a late 2021 release. As of right now, Hawkeye is supposedly planned for a late 2021 or early 2022 release, although it’s unclear how the shifting of release dates will hit Hawkeye.

Hailee Steinfeld seems like a great inclusion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a welcome choice to follow up Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. This shift to a younger generation of heroes looks to be where Marvel is headed in this next phase, and it’s exciting to see the Oscar-nominated Steinfeld joining this massive world, even though we’ll likely have to wait more than a year to see her in action.
