From Game of Thrones to Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham has made herself part of some of TV’s biggest shows. Now, she’s joining one of cinema’s biggest franchises. Variety reports that Hannah Waddingham, best known as the woman ringing the “Shame” bell during Cersei Lannister’s walk through King’s Landing, has signed on for the final installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, 2024’s Dead Reckoning – Part Two.

Director Christopher McQuarrie shared an image of Hannah Waddingham in the Mission: Impossible film on Instagram. The photo features the actress looking dramatically into the distance from what appears to be a high-tech government facility. The photo is captioned with hashtags “#Godspeed” and “#DeadReckoning.”

What exactly Hannah Waddingham will be up to in her Mission: Impossible debut is a mystery. Plot details for the epic two-part finale to one of the biggest film franchises in history have been kept under wraps. Judging by the hashtags on McQuarrie’s post, it seems Waddingham may be the one to send Tom Cruise on his final impossible mission.

Hannah Waddingham won’t get to make her Mission: Impossible appearance for another year; the final film in the franchise is scheduled to hit theaters on June 28, 2024. First up is Dead Reckoning Part One, which will crash into cinemas later this summer on July 14, 2023. The film is expected to be the biggest and longest entry in the franchise so far.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will feature the return of Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby. The film will also reach deep into its roster to bring back original Mission: Impossible stars Vanessa Redgraves and Henry Czerny. Hannah Waddingham will join other Mission: Impossible newcomers Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, and Esai Morales.

Before Hannah Waddingham appears in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, she will hit the small screen in Apple TV+’s third season of Ted Lasso. In 2021, Waddingham won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on the show and was nominated again for the series’ second season. She will return with Jason Sudeikis to bring positivity on March 15, 2023.

Hannah Waddingham is also set to star in Fox’s new animated comedy series Krapopolis, and the PBS Masterpiece series Tom Jones, both anticipated to debut this year. She will join Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Stephanie Hsu, Teresa Palmer, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson for Deadpool 2 director David Leitch’s upcoming action flick The Fall Guy.

Hannah Waddingham will couple her 2024 Mission: Impossible appearance with a role alongside Chris Pratt in an animated Garfield film. The lasagna-loving cat hasn’t hit the big screen since Bill Murray voiced the character in 2006’s Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties.

Since the early 2000s, Hannah Waddingham has worked doing small roles in TV shows and movies but gained recognition as Unella on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Her villainous role on the show opened the door to a larger role on Syfy’s Krypton and then on Ted Lasso in 2020. The breakout Apple TV+ series launched Hannah Waddingham into the spotlight, and she will take full advantage of it when she graces the screen next year in the conclusion of Mission: Impossible.
