If you’re a fan of 30th Century Fox and its one program, then you’ll be thrilled to know that the cult classic animated show Futurama will be returning for an all-new season on Hulu. It’s been 10 years since we’ve last seen new installments of the sci-fi comedy series, but we don’t have to worry too much about continuity considering that Futurama is set almost a thousand years out. The new season will premiere on July 24, and the first 10 episodes of the 20-episode run will be released on a weekly schedule.

Speaking of continuity, Futurama will pick up right where it left off. Matt Groening (The Simpsons) and David X. Cohen, who created the series back in 1999 will be functioning as executive producers for the Hulu revival. We’ll also see Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, and David Herman reprise their roles as they return to New New York once again to do what they best and deliver intergalactic parcels via their Planet Express ship.

But most exciting of all is the recent news that John DiMaggio will be returning to reprise his role of “Bender” Bending Rodriguez, our favorite foul-mouthed alcohol-guzzling robot. For a while, it didn’t seem like DiMaggio would return to Futurama for the Hulu revival because of ongoing salary negotiations, but an agreement has been made and he’s now fully on board. Had DiMaggio decided to not return to the series, Bender would have been voiced by a number of different guest stars throughout the run.

So now that we have the cast and crew on lock for the upcoming Futurama season, we can only wonder what kind of adventures the Planet Express crew will get involved in. Sources say that new viewers will be able to jump right into the new season without familiarizing themselves with the series, but it’s been asserted that long-time Futurama fans will be pleased with a number of payoffs that were set up in the preceding seven seasons. Maybe we’ll finally get closure on the now decades-long love story between Fry and Leela, and take another couple of trips to Omicron Persei 8 as we watch it unfold.

Though newcomers are welcome to get into Futurama for the first time with this revival, it’s advisable to start the series from the beginning and learn everything you need to know about suicide booths, “Fing-Longers,” and Professor Farnsworth’s infamous Angry Dome. Futurama is known for its meta-humor and can be very self-referential at times, so the viewing experience will only be enhanced if you clue yourself into all of the long-running in-jokes and gags.

And if a pop-up Slurm factory happens to open up to promote the upcoming Futurama revival, you might want to get up to speed on what the secret ingredient is, because you’ll probably have second thoughts about slugging down a can or ten of the highly addictive beverage. Needless to say, we’re beyond excited about taking a trip back to the year 3000 to watch the already vast Futurama universe continue to expand.

If you’re as excited as we are about the Futurama revival, then you might want to take a page from Dr. Zoidberg’s book and give us a hearty “whoop-whoop-whoop!” in celebration.
