Star Wars: The Acolyte is definitely the most mysterious Star Wars project on the horizon, but now we’ve finally got some behind-the-scenes looks at some of the sets and characters. The Daily Mail provided some pictures which are now making their way around social media. This series of Tweets gives us some insights about what we can expect from the show:

This first behind-the-scenes look at Star Wars: The Acolyte shows what appears to be a female Zabrak character. Fans will be familiar with the franchise’s most famous Zabrak, Darth Maul, who appeared in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menance and numerous episodes of the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. This appears to be a female member of the species, which are known as Nightsisters.

This set picture of Star Wars: The Acolyte shows a Wookie character. As we see in later set pictures, the Jedi characters are wearing golden robes characteristic of The High Republic, so maybe this Wookie is a member of the Jedi Order. Regardless, a Wookie is always a welcome sight in the Star Wars universe.

This picture definitely has the comment section divided, as The Daily Mail says this is Star Wars: The Acolyte cast member Dafne Keen, but others are saying it’s not. There definitely seems to be prosthetics and makeup here, so it might be hard to tell if it’s Keen or not. If it is, her look is also slightly reminiscent of the Nightsisters, as the female Zabraks in the era of Star Wars we’re familiar with are often depicted without horns.

This picture is a little less ambiguous, as it depicts a fairly straightforward shot of Star Wars: The Acolyte cast member Dean-Charles Chapman. His outfit is clearly High Republic Jedi robes, so there’s not a lot of guesswork to be done here. It’s still a cool shot to see though!

Finally, we have this picture of Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae putting on his Jedi hood. It seems likely that he’ll be playing a Jedi Master in Star Wars: The Acolyte based on the series description. Lee Jung-jae is one of the leads along with Amandla Stenberg, so it seems like he’ll be playing the Master to Stenberg’s Padawan.

With all the mystery surrounding Star Wars: The Acolyte, it’s cool to finally get some set photos to fuel the fan-theory fire. Leslye Headland, best known for co-creating the mind-bending series Russian Doll, is the showrunner and creator so it won’t be surprising if all the fan theories are completely off base. At this point, we really only know that the series takes place at the end of the High Republic era, and follows a Jedi Master reuniting with his Padawan to investigate a series of crimes.

These pictures are notably missing any shots of Amandla Stenberg, along with other announced cast members Jodie Turner-Smith  Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Carrie-Anne Moss, Manny Jacinto, and Margarita Levieva (although it could be one of them under that Zabrak makeup). Hopefully, we’ll be graced with a Star Wars: The Acolyte trailer soon so we can find out more. In the meantime, you can check out the most recent Star Wars series, Andor, on Disney+.
