Alexandra Daddario’s new series Mayfair Witches has been greenlit for a second season, and fans on Twitter definitely have their opinions on the topic. Both this series, which is based on Anne Rice’s bestselling trilogy, Lives of the Mayfair Witches, and the 2022 Interview with the Vampire television series, have been successful for AMC. Both series have been renewed for a second season, according to Variety.

It’s no surprise that Alexandra Daddario’s Mayfair Witches was renewed for a second season despite currently only being halfway through airing the first season. Now, the new series is the most watched show ever on AMC+, simply based on its first 30 days of airing, after being released on January 8. The show follows Daddario as the lead protagonist, Rowan, took over the number one AMC+ spot, which was previously held by its sister series, Interview with the Vampire

Despite the show’s popularity and high ratings, fans on Twitter are experiencing a split reaction to Alexandra Daddario’s Mayfair Witches series renewal. It seems that fans of Anne Rice’s books are disappointed so far by how the show has portrayed the original source material, while fans of the series are excited to see more.

Many fans were uninterested in the news of Alexandra Daddario’s return for Mayfair Witches Season 2, claiming that the first season wasn’t all that great and that the series front runners had “a lot of work to do” to meet the show’s potential.

One Twitter user elaborated on their disappointment in the series and gave the show a bit of constructive criticism, asking that the writers stop blending and removing beloved characters from the books.

Other fans criticized AMC for focusing too much on Alexandra Daddario and Mayfair Witches, bashing AMC for taking away Interview with the Vampire’s publicity to promote Mayfair Witches more.

However, despite the criticisms, most fans are excited to see Alexandra Daddario and her castmates back in action for Mayfair Witches Season 2.

When commenting on the renewal of both Alexandra Daddario’s Mayfair Witches and Jacob Anderson’s Interview with the Vampire, Dan McDermott (president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks) said that he was delighted to continue expanding the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Mark Johnson, the ringleader for the Immortal Universe, states the success of both television series is because of Anne Rice’s talented writing and mentioned his excitement for future Anne Rice storytelling opportunities.

Alexandra Daddario stars in Mayfair Witches as Rowan, a neurosurgeon who finds out that she comes from a long line of witches and must face off against an evil spirit that has been haunting her family for decades. The series goes beyond fantasy and adventure and also tells a story that explores female empowerment and the dire consequences of our decisions.

In addition to Alexandra Daddario as Rowan, Mayfair Witches also stars Jack Huston, Tongayi Chirisa, and Harry Hamlin as Lasher, Ciprien Grieve, and Cortland Mayfair. Additional cast includes Beth Grant, Hannah Alline, Jen Richards, and Ravi Naidu. The show was written by Michelle Ashford, who also executive produces alongside Michael Uppendahl, who also directs the series.
