Fantastic Four’s Main Villain Revealed?
Rumor has it that the upcoming Fantastic Four movie's villain will be Galactus.
You can’t put stock into every MCU rumor out there, but ComicBookMovie.com recently reported that Galactus might be the villain of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. This would be huge news, as Galactus is one of the biggest threats in the comics and his appearance in the MCU could give us another Avengers-level big bad. If this rumor ends up being true, it would line up with the rumors that Silver Surfer would appear ahead of the F4 movie.
Silver Surfer usually initially appears as a herald for Galactus, announcing his, so having him appear before Fantastic Four would be a great way to set up Galactus as a threat and drum up fan hype. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the new F4 movie, so any rumor gets immediately jumped on by fans. At this point, we don’t even know who will be playing Marvel’s first family.
There have been several movies featuring the famous team, but this is their first movie in the MCU. We did get to see John Krasinski pop up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, but he was playing a variant. He could easily be replaced by another actor in the Fantastic Four movie.
Recent rumors suggest that Adam Driver may be up for the role of Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four movie. This would certainly be a fitting casting choice, as Driver always gives his all to his performances. Of course, this is also just a rumor at this point.
Along with Reed Richards, fans are still wondering who will play Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm aka Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and the Thing. Casting rumors are flying around for these characters as well, with Emily Blunt being a fan-favorite for the Sue Storm role. There are also plenty of people wondering if Dr. Doom will be introduced in the Fantastic Four movie.
It seems likely that Dr. Doom wouldn’t play a huge role in the Fantastic Four movie if the rumors about Galactus are true. Dr. Doom is widely considered one of the best villains in the MCU, and he sometimes takes on the entirety of the Avengers on his own. If Doom enters the mix too early, then we’d have three Avengers-level threats in the current MCU with Jonathan Majors’ Kang and Galactus.
If they were going to introduce a big-time villain in Fantastic Four, it would likely be either Doom or Galactus, not both at once. Of course, Doom could make an appearance in a smaller tease or even post-credits sequence, but it wouldn’t make sense to have both of these major villains competing for screen time in one movie. We’ll just have to wait until February 2025 to see what Marvel has in store for us.
While we wait for Fantastic Four, there are plenty of other Marvel projects to keep us busy. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is right around the corner, with a February 17 release date. You can also stream Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Disney+ on February 1.
