Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a massive hit. It could have been because of the wild cameos that took place in the film. However, we think it has a lot to do with the film’s director. Sam Raimi finally returned to the superhero genre after leaving it behind when Spider-Man 3 was released back in 2007. Honestly, it was a big gamble, but it paid off. The man brought a level of horror to the MCU that worked on every level. However, he is not done with superhero movies yet, and he is returning to his best franchise. We are happy to report through our trusted and proven sources that Sam Raimi is in talks with Sony to direct another Spider-Man film.

Although Spider-Man 3 was a mess of a movie, Sam Raimi redeemed himself with Doctor Strange 2. The film was quite good and one of the more ambitious entries in the MCU. That has likely led to Sony contacting the man to take the reins once again. However, now it must be determined which of the Spider-Men is going to be the focus of this new proposed movie. We know that Jon Watts is meant to take on the fourth Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film. However, both Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield were brought back, leaving fans to speculate about their potential return to the franchise. After seeing them both in Spider-Man: No Way Home, we would love to see either of those gentlemen receive another film.

Quite honestly, Andrew Garfield might be the more obvious choice for a Sam Raimi Spider-Man film. Only because Garfield is younger than Maguire by nine years. Also, he does look a bit younger. Although Garfield’s time as the Web Head was met with some disdain, he was fantastic in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Also, if Marvel is meant to partner with Sony again, the film could be another massive success. However, having two different films going on that feature different versions of Spider-Man might be a bit confusing. Tom Holland has voiced his want to leave the character behind, and the Sony Spiderverse is starting to take shape. This could be the chance for Garfield or Maguire to step in, especially with the slate of upcoming films. Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, and El Muerto are currently being worked on and are meant to create a new universe. With Morbius and Venom already established, we could be seeing the makings of the Sinister Six.

Sam Raimi returning to Spider-Man does make the most sense now. His films, despite the third one, were all majorly successful and essentially began the superhero genre fascination. Well, that’s to say that Raimi was responsible for showing how successful superhero movies could become. Now that the MCU has created a new level of success, Raimi can be as ambitious as he would like to be. He certainly was with Doctor Strange 2, and that movie was fantastic. Our vote is to see Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire return to a multiverse-type situation and exist alongside each other like Peter Parker and Miles Morales do in the comics.
