Star Wars is currently making some of the best content it has in years. Although some might be tired of all the stories linking to the Skywalker Saga, fans can’t seem to get enough of older continuity being revisited in new and fresh ways. From The Mandalorian to Obi-Wan Kenobi, there have been some wonderful legacy characters returning in some of the best ways. It truly adds more dimension to these characters in a way that had not been shown before. With that, we are happy to report through our trusted and proven sources that Natalie Portman will return as Padme in Star Wars.

Although it might seem a bit odd that Natalie Portman would return to Star Wars, it makes complete sense for her character to return. Especially considering that we just got to see Anakin Skywalker return in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although we were given the prequels to learn about Padme’s journey, there were significant gaps that had never been explored. That is the same thing that the previously mentioned series just tackled. How she returns can be left to debate, but we have a strong hunch that she might be returning in some sort of flashback-type scenario. There are some strong shows being written currently, and we might even see more of a deep-dive series taken on by Padme’s backstory. That would be something quite interesting.

For now, all we know is that Natalie Portman is appearing in Star Wars as Padme, but the project details are being kept under wraps for now. There are plenty of ways in which she could return, including some of the shows that might continue to cover the era in which Anakin and Obi-Wan were still young men. The Clone Wars cartoon was a massive hit, but Padme did not appear as much as she should have, so there could be some more stories to visit in that era, but obviously with a more live-action element taken. Rogue One is a perfect example of taking a story that had not been previously examined and tying it into the original trilogy. Padme did become a rebellion leader, so we might see more of her appearances in that regard.

Hayden Christensen has also stated that he wishes to return as Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker. We propose a deeper dive into the years when Anakin begins to show his anger and frustration come about. Natalie Portman returning in a Star Wars series that covers their relationship further might be something interesting to look at. Either way, we are excited to see her return to the universe. This news of her return could have been brought on now that her name is massively popular in Disney again, as she is set to take on the role of Jane Foster aka The Mighty Thor.

Natalie Portman returning in Star Wars does prove that current continuity isn’t ready to level the Skywalker Saga behind, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. While some want some more refreshing stories explored, we can see why returning to the classic character’s plights works as well. As previously mentioned, The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi has had some of the best writing in all of Star Wars. We can’t wait to see how Padme returns.
