Per our trusted and proven sources, we can report that a Men in Black series is being worked on for Amazon Studios, which is fantastic because there have been no attempts to reboot the franchise since the 2019 Men in Black: International movie was released. Before that, the trilogy of films that followed Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith ended back in 2012, though we are hoping they are involved in some fashion with this new series. Men in Black stands as one of the best sci-fi properties, and we are excited that it is being explored again.

This would not be the first time that Men in Black had a series, as an animated show was created that ran for four seasons between 1997 and 2000, which was based on the huge popularity of the first movie. The series even managed to bring back Tony Shaloub and Vincent D’Onofrio from the original movie to be voice actors for their characters from the first movie. However, there has not yet been a live-action Men in Black series.

Both Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith may have left the franchise some 10 years ago, but it would be fantastic if they were brought in for a small cameo for this new Men in Black series. Even Tony Shaloub as Jeebs would be a welcomed cameo if he were the only one that was willing to return. Unfortunately, Zed cannot be a part of the new series, as Rip Torn sadly passed away in 2019.

Amazon Studios has been upping its content by a lot. Apart from the countless original movies getting attention on the platform, they are now home to the Rings of Power series that everyone is currently talking about. The streaming platform is the perfect place to attempt to revive one of the best sci-fi properties to ever exist.

For those who may not remember, Men in Black follows a secret organization that monitors and polices alien activity in the world. The first three movies involved Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent J (Will Smith). Though Agent J was a bit of a rookie in the first movie, he did grow into a much better agent as time went on, at least according to him.

The Men in Black series has plenty to work with, as there are far more agents that can be used to serve as protagonists in this new series. Even using the rookie and hardened veteran team-up trope would still work well, as it worked for the first three movies. Well, it was the same formula with Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth, but audiences just didn’t appeal that well to the fourth movie.

Men in Black: International was released in 2019, and nothing has been done to attempt to revive the franchise since then. We could do well with a possible more adult version of the franchise in this new Amazon Studios series. We always appreciated the campy humor that was in all the movies, but maybe it’s time to show a much darker side of the Men in Black organization.
