Earlier last week we reported the creative team behind Batgirl: Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would be helming The Mummy reboot. Now, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report another exclusive about the new reboot, which is that Dwayne Johnson will also be returning to the world of The Mummy. We are not sure if that means he is going to be returning as the Scorpion King, but if he does, at least he will have some better CGI this time around.

Despite the awful CGI, Dwayne Johnson was one of the best parts about The Mummy Returns. His tragic backstory was something that warranted a solo movie, apparently, and that is exactly what the world got. Granted, it paled in comparison to how much money The Mummy Returns made, but that was the point where people noticed that Johnson could be a leading man.

Dwayne Johnson could be back for The Mummy reboot, but that does not necessarily mean he is going to be leading the reboot. In fact, we hope that he is not going to be leading the movie, and we all are treated to Brendan Fraser back as Rick O’Connell. Granted, it is going to be an older and more seasoned Rick O’Connell, but Fraser did state he would be fine with another “transformation” movie.

What better transformation for Brendan Fraser to get fit and fight Dwayne Johnson in The Mummy reboot? We know that we have all seen that before, but again, it was with some of the worst CGI the world has ever seen. Considering Johnson has now played the “bad guy” role in Black Adam, he could take on the role of the villain or mummy in the reboot.

Dwayne Johnson could be the mummified version of the Scorpion King who is awoken by O’Connell and must now seek his revenge in The Mummy reboot. We know this is the trope that has been used many times over, but as they say, “If isn’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Despite whatever direction Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are going to take this new movie, it had better involve both Fraser and Johnson. Everyone has been begging for this to happen, especially since Fraser is now going through his epic acting comeback. What better way to welcome him back to the world of action/adventure movies than to have him face off against Dwayne Johnson in The Mummy reboot?

Dwayne Johnson is arguably the biggest action movie star in the world currently, and it would be amazing to have him back in the world of The Mummy, though we are not sure if his return as the Scorpion King would be the right move. However, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah could pull a fast one on all of us and make Johnson a completely new character, even one that would team up with Brendan Fraser’s Rick O’Connell. We have not reported that Fraser would be returning for this reboot, but he should, otherwise, this is a wasted opportunity.
