From wrestling to acting, Dwayne Johnson has come a long way. In recent years he has been a notable addition to many franchise films and even at one time been the highest-paid influencer. Judging from how he spins entertainment into gold, this is no surprise. His influence has even spread to other areas of sports. For Monday Night Football, Johnson joined Peyton and Eli Manning on their commentary called ManningCast. The trio watched a Wild Card matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Rams were in the lead 14-0, prompting Dwayne Johnson to make a motivational speech towards the Cardinals. But things took a turn for the worse during Johnson’s pep talk. As Kyler Murray passed the ball in the middle of Johnson’s speech, it was intercepted by David Long Jr., allowing a touchdown for the Rams (via Yahoo Sports). Johnson was admittedly defeated as he watched the play in real-time and took a swig from a bottle, which appears to be his own brand of Teremana Tequila. Outlets are saying that Murray’s mishap is the “shortest pick-six in NFL postseason history,” giving credence to Dwayne Johnson’s reaction. Peyton and Eli Manning, also on the cast, showed varying degrees of dismay. The actor may need to drink his worries away when it comes to sports, but his career is another matter. Johnson has been firing on all cylinders with the number of properties he has been a part of. He has taken part in blockbuster films such as Jungle Cruise, Jumanji, and Red Notice. But now one of his most anticipated ventures will be his entrance into the DC Extended Universe.

DC’s extended universe has had its ups and downs with vision in recent years. The biggest foray into an extended universe was Zack Snyder’s interpretation of Batman and Superman. Now Batman is getting a standalone film in Matt Reeves’ The Batman while other projects such as Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey have set a tone different from Snyder’s gritty and dour perspective. Although the vision for the DCEU has not been cohesive, there are details that fans are excited about. Dwayne Johnson has been cast as the anti-hero Black Adam and has been doling out tidbits about the part as much as he can.

In a recent post, Dwayne Johnson gave a behind-the-scenes look at Black Adam and the special effects that will be going into the character. The character has a long history, with origins stretching back to the 1940’s, before DC existed (via Games Radar). But he is notable for facing off against Shazam, portrayed by Zachary Levi in the 2019 film. The Hollywood Reporter states that the Black Adam film will feature the villain as well as introduce characters to live-action canon, such as Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) and Hawkman (Aldis Hodge).

But there is one property that Dwayne Johnson will no longer be appearing in. In light of the feud between him and former co-star Vin Diesel, Johnson does not appear to be returning to the Fast & the Furious franchise. More fuel was added to the fire after Diesel implored Johnson publicly to return to the franchise. Johnson took issue with this, calling the public post a manipulation. Diesel name-checked the late Paul Walker in an attempt to get Johnson to return. It seems clear that Johnson will do fine without the franchise. His appearances on the ManningCast as well as his multiple franchises prove that he won’t be fading away any time soon.
