Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is promising to be one of the wildest and most game-changing entries in the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although we assumed most of that wackiness would come from the multiversal shenanigans that are promised in the title, it turns out that the most surprising element of the movie might be who the Sorcerer Supreme ends up battling against. If a new rumor is true, it sounds like the hero could be facing down two of his own allies.

Insider Daniel Richtman is reporting that Doctor Strange will be going toe-to-toe with both Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch and an evil version of Captain America in the upcoming sequel. We have actually heard this possibility in the past when it comes to Scarlet Witch becoming a villainous presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering how her path seems to be going on WandaVision and that we know she will be playing a big part in disrupting the multiverse, hearing that she will actually be an antagonist in the movie sounds like it all fits.

The real surprise here is the possibility that Chris Evans could be showing up as the villainous Captain Hydra in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We had heard that he could show up to fight against Sam Wilson, and this could be how he makes his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The idea of letting Chris Evans play a villainous version of such a beloved hero sounds like the kind of fun an actor would love to have with a character. And it would certainly pose some character conflict for any of the Avengers if they think he is some version of the Steve Rogers they know.

With so much seeming to ride on the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we are wondering if the movie will end up being a way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to seed a number of stories moving forward. We already know that the upcoming third Spider-Man movie will feature a cavalcade of villains from multiple universes. Could this new leg of the Marvel Cinematic Universe be pulling on other multiverse iterations of characters to help stock their rogues gallery? And could it lead to us seeing evil versions of other Avengers?

Clearly, Doctor Strange is going to have his work cut out for him in the sequel. Scarlet Witch is a powerful opponent all on her own, but if she is able to bring in evil versions of the Avengers to back her up, things could get really difficult for the Sorcerer Supreme. We will simply have to wait and see how it all shakes out once Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters next year. We are betting that all these rumors are going to help get fans even more excited for such a bizarre and kooky addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We are excited to see just how nuts this next entry in the series is going to get.
