After the devastating cliffhanger in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the arrival of Marvel’s upcoming endeavor can not come fast enough. Doctor Strange 2 is entitled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and is expected to be released this coming May (via Digital Spy). Like the most recent Spider-Man film, Doctor Strange 2 promises to bring in a vast variety of characters in addition to the Sorcerer Supreme himself. The trailer has revealed the arrival of Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) but there is one appearance that was only recently confirmed. According to CBR, a recent poster has confirmed the arrival of one obscure character from Doctor Strange lore.

The poster on the website for Red Wolf depicts Rintrah, a magic user that has been teased to arrive in Doctor Strange 2. The character hails from the planet R’Vaal where the inhabitants are green-skinned and reminiscent of Minotaurs from Greek myth. Like many acquaintances of Doctor Strange, Rintrah had magical potential which is how he eventually comes to know the sorcerer. Rintrah first became a magical apprentice to Enitharmon the Weaver. He came to know Doctor Strange after delivering his Cloak of Levitation which had been damaged. This encounter ensured that they team up for various magical emergencies.

This new Rintrah merchandise indicates the character’s appearance in Doctor Strange 2, but that is not the only place that he has been spotted. Comicbook.com also noticed he has a very brief appearance in the trailer for the film. In one fleeting shot, a Minotaur creature is visible amid sorcery and flames. This is certainly an indication that Rintrah will be significant in the film. Among others, there are many surprising elements that the film has in store.

It has been six years since Doctor Strange had his first solo film and Doctor Strange 2 is sure to include as much weirdness as the first. Though the sorcerer has had many appearances since then, the trailer promises to focus on the magical world that he is a part of. Like the title suggests, Doctor Strange 2 will be an exploration of the Multiverse. Spider-Man: No Way Home touched on this concept with the arrival of Spider-Man from two separate universes. Peter Parker (Tom Holland) met different versions of himself (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) as the trio battled well known villains. Though Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) does not remember the turmoil that Peter went through, the Multiverse is still relevant in the film. The sorcerer embarks on a journey to find Wanda as she is also a magic-wielder.

Wanda is concerned that Doctor Strange is out to punish her after her misstep in WandaVision. In typical Doctor Strange fashion, her mistake does not concern him. He needs her for something else. Apart from Wanda, there are other characters set to appear. Finally fans will see the culmination of Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who promised to become an antagonist at the end of the first Doctor Strange (via comicbook.com). Mordo is also spotted in the Doctor Strange 2 trailer as well as a character from Disney+’s animated series What If. With Wong returning as well, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is sure to pack a punch.
