With more than a decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe only expanding, the studio has had some of the most impressive creative contributors. Stage actors such as Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hiddleston have lent their talents on various projects. Both Jeremy Renner and Robert Downey Jr. have been nominated for multiple Academy Awards at different times in their lives. Marvel has had high caliber quality of work associated with the brand. It isn’t hard to see in the new phase of Marvel that more and more acclaimed actors should be involved in future projects. Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan has some ideas of what Marvel should do next. In a candid interview with Denzel Washington, Jordan implied that he may have some ideas about the experienced actor joining the MCU.

Denzel Washington is a critically acclaimed actor who has stepped into directing roles as well. But one thing he hasn’t done is a Marvel film. During promotion for their film, A Journal For Jordan on IMDb, the subject of future projects came up. Jordan was asked if Washington should join the MCU. “No hesitation,” Jordan answered automatically. He then continued to say that he had some ideas of how Washington could enter the fold. Washington responded positively to Jordan’s enthusiasm but said, “You better hurry.” This may have to do with the fact that Washington may be retiring from acting in the near future.

However, there is still time before that happens. Audiences won’t see Denzel Washington on screen, but he and Michael B. Jordan had a good working relationship in their new film A Journal For Jordan. Denzel Washington directed Jordan in the romantic drama (via Deadline). The film is based on a memoir from Dana Canedy who detailed the emotionally resonant story of Stg. Charles Munroe King being deployed in Iraq while Canedy raised their son Jordan. Michael B. Jordan enjoyed his time on the film, stating that working with Denzel Washington was different from other directors. Hopefully, this will lead to other collaborations between the two.

Although there has been no follow-up to the interview, Michael B. Jordan could make this happen for Denzel Washington. Jordan portrayed Black Panther’s nemesis Erik Killmonger in the first film. He went on to reprise the character in Disney’s animated show What If…? (via TV Insider). While Killmonger met his demise at the hands of T’Challa, the character may have cause to return to Black Panther. Jordan stated in an interview for ET Online that he has a good relationship with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. If he doesn’t come back for another film for Marvel, he is sure to work with Coogler in at least some other capacity.

This sort of pull within the MCU could be good for Denzel Washington. Although he of course doesn’t need any help on that front. Washington has been in the entertainment industry for over four decades and has had an abundance of success. The actor has had many resonant roles, including two Oscars. From Malcolm X to Training Day, Washington continues to be relevant. And when he isn’t directing Michael B. Jordan, he will be appearing next in a film from Joel Coen. Coen is directing The Tragedy of Macbeth where Washington appears as the titular character (via Variety). Also starring Frances McDormand, the film is from notable independent production company A24. Fans can catch the film when it streams on Apple TV.
