Since Deadpool 3 was announced, there have been rumors flying left and right. Of course, when an actor from a previous movie posts a cryptic Tweet, that only adds fuel to the fire. Lewis Tan, who played Shatterstar in Deadpool 2, took to Twitter to post a series of emojis and a Deadpool hashtag.

Of course, Shatterstar joined Wade Wilson’s X-Force team along with Domino, Vanisher, Zeitgeist,  Bedlam, and Peter. Every single one of them (except Domino) died on their mission, but it seems like there’s a chance X-Force could return once again in Deadpool 3. Whether that’s through multiverse shenanigans or some other method remains to be seen.

While there’s no guarantee that Lewis Tan’s Shatterstar and other X-Force members will show up in Deadpool 3, we will definitely be seeing the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Although everyone (including Jackman himself) thought that he was retiring from the role after 2017’s Logan, it seems like his frenemy Ryan Reynolds was able to convince him to come back. It will be interesting to see how Wolverine is factored into the story, especially because the character died in the aforementioned Logan (although that could be explained away as a different universe or not connected to the MCU at all).

Deadpool 3 has a lot riding on it, as it will introduce both Deadpool and Wolverine to the MCU. Both are beloved characters that haven’t factored into Marvel’s greater plans until now. The threequel will also have the distinct honor of being the first Marvel movie to have an R rating.

Considering Deadpool 3 will continue the story from the first two movies, it remains to be seen if those films will become MCU canon. There’s a possibility that Marvel could find a way to make those stories part of the overarching story or they could retcon them altogether. In either case, the mystery surrounding this movie has fan hype at an all-time high.

The MCU also has to find a way to introduce the X-Men, which is something that Kevin Feige has mentioned they plan on doing. So far, we’ve only seen Patrick Stewart briefly return as a multiverse variant of Professor Charles Xavier and we found out that Khamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel is a mutant. The previous Deadpool movies included various X-Men characters, so maybe Deadpool 3 is the path Disney will take to properly introduce the iconic Marvel IP.

If multiverse shenanigans are indeed in the cards for Deadpool 3, maybe they’ll find a way to introduce multiple X-Men through the movie. Undoubtedly, Hugh Jackman will likely only want to return as Wolverine one last time, so maybe we’ll be introduced to the next Wolverine as Jackman passes the torch. Really, anything could happen as the Deadpool franchise isn’t afraid to go outside the box and get meta.

For now, we’re just going to have to look to cryptic tweets and the rumor mill to guess what might happen in Deadpool 3. Surely, there will be trailers and official announcements in the future, but we’ll just have to wait until then. All will be revealed when the movie hits theaters on November 8, 2024.
